Herman A. DeVry was born in Mecklenburg, Schwerin, Germany, November 26th, 1876,son of Wilhelm H. DeVry and Maria Kunigunde of Dirnberger, Germany. At the age of nine he came to this country with his parents and attended the PUBLIC SCHOOLS. NOT FOR PROFIT SCHOOL OR PRIVATE UNIVERSITY!.
After receiving educational training offered in American public schools, this young man began his business career as a salesman & then a retail sporting goods establishment".
A DeVry diploma has become nothing more than a worthless paper mill piece of trash that won't even get you in the front dour of a reputable company,.
Ask those who graduated from DeVry in the top of their class & are now standing in the long unemployment lines|. Reputable companies file DeVry paper mill applicants in their "Don't call us, we'll call you cabinet'. Meaning no call back in this century:. Met two DeVry graduates at the local Starbucks and one was doing janitor work while the other was flipping hamburgers at a fast food place just to pay the rent.. They couldn't even pay the last 6 months of their loans much less get any credit to buy a car or home!. Ruined their lives forever. 30e7afb

Since 2006, Workforce Central Florida had spent more than $5.3 million in ways that violated federal spending regulations. The agency received more than $100 million in federal funding in five years to pay for worker training, offer job-search assistance and to help local companies find qualified employees.
Instead the agency awarded lucrative contracts to Board Members, Spent more than $700,000 in job-training money on legal settlements and created a $73,000 outreach program that proposed handing out Red Superhero Capes to the Unemployed. The Sacked Central Florida Workforce Staff were each given a ‘Red Superhero Cape’ as they had given out to the unemployed. Looks like Steve Brown was one of the privileged ones to get another position within DeVry's corporate offices.

Shares of DeVry Inc. tumbled 8 percent Friday January 27, 2012 after the education company reported that its net income plunged by 90 percent during the second quarter as a crackdown on for-profit schools by regulators drove enrollments down.
Last summer, the U.S. Department of Education tightened financial aid standards for for-profit schools in an attempt to improve graduation rates. By fall, DeVry's undergraduate enrollment had dropped 13 percent and new enrollments fell by 25 percent.

This is what happens when marketing lets an "ad agency" put a tired "creative" idea before strategy, with no real insight or consideration of their audience. Way to think it through guys.
It was also reported that Workforce of Central Florida spent $250,000 tax dollars on staff cars amongst the $73,000 wasted by the agency now currently being investigated.
Governor Scott finally did something right when he FIRED ALL of Central Florida Workforce Staff and their Board of Directors.
They should all be given one of their red Super-hero capes so they can jump off the tallest building in central Florida. "Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound" Splat ! I’d presume the red cape didn’t help find you folks another... Show more

There are currently at least half a million students in the US enrolled in for-profit universities/institutions like DeVry. These students are all taking on substantial debt. Some studies & stastics project student loans amount to nearly a trillion dollars. This is more than the entire credit-card debt of the US. Over 90% of such debt is held by students enrolled in for-profit colleges like DeVry.
There are plenty of stories of fraudulent marketing practices, & shoddy instruction at for profit universities. I can assure you that at my new place of work looking at resumes of prospective job applicants, paper-mill degrees from for-profit outfits are NOT considered & 99% of the time filed in the DO NOT CALL BACK cabinet. Reason applications are kept for at least 90 days in case the hopeful applicant or unemployment office calls. Students should realize that they are being cheated by... Show more

it takes time to get experience, Devry never helped me in my job search though, i agree on that that their placement assistance is non- existant.

Graduation came along and Devry has done nothing to help me out finding a job position. Now they have this ridiculous web-site for alumni where you can go apply for jobs and I don't think they update this website very often, you see the same crappy jobs over and over. My bachelor's degree cost me around $68,000. Devry will tell you that their graduates are in demand but from my experience this is not true.
I am unemployed now for 10 months and its obvious how every employer scrutinizes DeVry's Degrees. Some even suggested taking
courses at a local state university if they were going to consider my application. This company was on DeVry's list but I was told they get commission to advertise there. Once in a while they might consider entry level positions for DeVry graduates depending on previous experience in a certain field otherwise its all about business & profits. Now if that isn't a business partnered scam then I don't know what else to call it. They should put themselves in the Devry graduates' position who worked hard to get on the Dean's list only to realize it was nothing more than a SCAM.

This flow of government money accounts for "100% of the growth in the for-profit education industry. And that growth has been very high -- industry sales have expanded at a five-year average annual rate of 26.4%, over three times the S&P 500 industry average. That growth has been very profitable, too: The five-year average return on equity for the industry is 33.5%, twice the S&P 500 industry average.
Unfortunately, that profitable growth comes at a cost to the industry's customers – STUDENTS! Dropout rates at for-profit institutions like DeVry are exceptionally high, and leaving school without a degree also leaves students with huge loans on which they often default. Taxpayers are then left with the bill of lost govt revenue from these loans due to no structure of operating regulations on for profit schools. Call your state governor's office and Washington DC to put a STOP to these dishonest business practices.

Too many students are paying $20,000 to $30,000 for associate’s degrees but their diplomas aren’t landing them jobs.
“They’re no more employable than they were before and now they’re deep in debt,†said Durbin, the assistant Senate majority leader.
For-profit schools are fighting to keep their profits and attempting to stop new regulations that would withhold federal education loans and grants from its schools with high student debt and low student loan repayments.

These people should be shut down completely along with all of the types of schools. They are scams and it's just more economical to go to a community college. Heck an actual University is cheaper than this school.
