I can't fill prescribed medication at local pharmacy nor can I get it filled online (because your only allowed one transfer).Apparently CVS didn't file for one large pharmacy with the FDA, each individual CVS is considered a separate pharmacy.

Therefore if you received your prescription in one store YOU only allowed to transfer it once - something they don't mention in their advertising.

Additionally you the online pharmacy is considered separate too so if you transfer there you won't be able to fill at your local store, say when you return from a business trip.CVS should have skipped the purchase of caremark and worked on truly implementing their advertised idea of picking up prescription at any CVS. 305a484

all you have to do is call your dr. and explain the situation. They can call the pharmacy it's at, tell them to close out the rx and call another one in at the pharmacy you're at. Larry's right about the one chain data base thing. Beenthere your dr. could write you 3 months worth of oxy and just write do not fill until dates on them. but if you got by with vicodin that would have been better anyway. that way you can enjoy yourself and not be too doped out. The dr. also could have written you 5 different scripts for the vicodin that way you could have filled it when you needed it. because i don't know about the laws of the states you went to because i know you cant transfer a script into new york. Why do you have to get mad at the pharmacy? If you're so tight with your doctor that they write you a script for a controlled med, you shouldn't be too shy to ask them for a script.

was it a controlled? because you can transfer a rx as many times you want to. But not controls. I thought everyone knew that.

Controls IE: lorazepam,Zolpidem,diazepam etc. No matter where you are transferring them to or from,can only be transferred once.It Is a FEDERAL law.
Basically if you RX has a C in front of the number it is a control.
NOT a "CVS" policy .

Not true. Federal law states that you can only transfer controls once to a different pharmacy. When a pharmacy chain has a database for all of their scripts (walgreens, cvs, etc), it can be transferred as many times among that chain as the customer chooses. So, for example, if you transfer from Target to walgreens, that counts as 1 transfer. Once at walgreens, it can be transferred between walgreens stores (central database). Sometimes pharmacists don't realize this and won't do the transfer. Other times, the customer is a crackhead and the pharmacist doesn't want him at his store.

Actually, you are mistaken. We travel in a motorhome and due to cancer I was on oxycodin and vicodin. I could not fill my oxycontin but once during our 5 month trip. I could only get the vicodin once and then after that my doctor at home would have to call the walgreens in whatever city I was in each time I needed more vicodin.

beenthere, you are an ***. I'm a pharmacist and I know this stuff. Oxycontin can't be refilled at all because it's a C2 and your vicodin is refillable at different walgreens if refills actually exist on the rx.
