My Duraceramic is the furthest thing from 'durable'.Within the first week, it chipped and peeled from an item being dropped on it!.

In 3 months there were many more chips and large spots where the finish had flaked off".
In response to this problem, the company told me to apply their polish, which requires stripping first, then covering with two coats,. This is a low maintenance floor?!?
After more wear showed, my retailer/installer contacted the company and remaining product was sent to them for sample testing|.

They found nothing wrong?. Two months later, they sent an investigator who photographed the floor and wrote a report/. The company informed me that the findings showed that any problem was due to improper installation - incorrect sub-flooring'.

This is complete baloney?.They are trying to pass this off to my local retailer, and pit me against him. 30e8ba8

We had this flooring installed 3 1/2 years ago. We were told by our salesman that the floor was "baked all the way through". Yea right! if you drop anything on the floor you get a chip. We had an inspector from Congoleum come to look at the floor. He told us off the record that they were having problems with it. However when his report came back, he threw us under the bus and said that we dropped sharp objects on the floor that is what caused it to chip. The floor was only 1 year old at the time. I take care of my home I don't destroy it. This flooring is a very thin veneer over limestone, there is nothing "baked" about this floor. I would never buy another product made by Congoleum.

:sigh I agree with the negative comments on this product. We have had our kitchen floor for about four years also. There are MANY scratches, especially where our counter stools are, and we have felt on the bottom of the legs. We are very disappointed also.

:( The word "dura" in Duraceramic is a joke.
After our dealer did replace several tiles within the first year (..and we put new felt pads
on our kitchen stools and chairs...), the terrible wear came right back very soon. The surface shows white areas where the color has worn off. I have never been so disappointed in
an investment. Shame, shame "Congoleum"? Cars can be "recalled". How about floors??

I am on my second dura ceramic floor. The manufacturer told me the first floor had some manufacturing issues. Since the floor is chipping and peeling for the second time, I am not sure what their excuse might be. I have told anyone that listens not to spend their hard earned money on this product. My cheap linoleum in the bathroom holds up better than this!

I have the same issues and cannot get anyone to come look at it. I have all the same symptoms and also have the tiles popping up. I am told I have a leak in my pipes. I have a friend that looked at it and said it looks like the glue they used is the wrong type. Does anyone know what was used on their floor to hold it down?

I have been installing duraceramic for at least 10 yrs. I many customers that would disagree with the folks on this site. I also have this product in my own home , I have 2 dogs 2 cats and a 4 yr. Old and my floor is awesome. I bought it Somersworth Floor & Window in Somersworth NH these guys are great . Maybe your install did not use the correct sub floor or the floor prep was not done correct.

We have had a Duraceramic Congoleum kitchen floor for approx. 4yrs and these reviews are correct. We have a 20 (off at school) and 2 year old and clean the floor once a week. It DOES NOT HOLD UP to daily wear and tear. There are cracks in well over 1/3 of the tiles, some spanning 2-3 tiles. The grout cracked and separated from the sides of some tiles. The mfr offered to give us 10 whole new tiles. Whoopee. Do not dare drop a spoon, fork or other item on it as it chips and dents. It's non-wax which is great but it's so dull it looks dirty all the time. The nooks and crannies fill with dirt and require scrubbing with a brush on your hands and knees. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

I agree with all the "do not buy posts" My floor has been down 4 years and it is the worst floor I have ever had. So many nicks, dents and scratches. It should be taken off the market

Duraceramic is the worst flooring choice I've ever made.
I love the look, but its the opposite of durable.Nicks, cuts, mars with exceptional ease.
I'm beyond disappointed in this costly inferior product.
I had no idea that they still sell this. :(

Dura-ceramic is the worst product I have ever purchased. It was the biggest financial mistake of my life. When I first had the floors installed throughout much of my house, I loved it. It had the appearance of ceramic tile without the coldness and hardness of the real thing. After a few months cracks started to appear, even in areas where there is no foot traffic. After a couple of years, the tiles began to peel up. The tiles become brittle and pieces break off. I am amazed this product is still on the market.

I have duraceramic without grout. This floor is great - looks like tile, but is resilient. There is nothing low quality about it, so I do not understand the comments. Definitely the closest thing to ceramic without the need for cement board. Just the underlayment was used over a stable vinyl floor.

I agree wholeheartedly with all of these comments. I live by myself and I thought the Dura in Duraceramic stood for Durable. It is not that at all. The coating is less than cellophane. I have more cracks, chips, peeling on my floor and it has only been down less than one year and I experienced them from the very beginning. Congoleum sent an inspector and he took photos and blamed it on my kitchen chairs and the installer and anything and anybody they could blame it on. This tile is the worst in the business. Walking on it practically creats a chip or peel. I can't imagine what it would look like if I had a family and we spent a lot of time in the kitchen. They should be ashamed of themselves, especially when they refuse to take any responsiiblity for this lemon of a product. DO NOT BUY IT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

I have to agree with both of these comments. I thought the Duraceramic was the perfect answer to our kitchen remodel. Everytime I clean the floor I notice a new chip in the finish. I can never recommend this flooring. It does not hold up to normal wear and tear.

Do Not Buy Duraceramic! It has absolutely no durability. We had this product installed and within a few months we experienced chipping, peeling and scratching. We had our retailer as well as a representive from Congoleum come to the house and evaluate the product. They told us that it was normal wear and tear and was that damage was due to consumer misuse. They told us we obviously had been abusing the floor, which simply put is ***! I asked for their suggestions on how to better care for the floor, he could have just as well told me the flooring was to look at not to walk on. I told him to look around my home and tell me if he saw other "abuse". I told him that I wish I still had my 20 year old linoleum, it held up much longer. I then contacted the consumer complaint department at Congoleum, who told me they stood by the onsite inspector. My last option would be to send in a sample to see if it was defective product. Like they would tell me if it was. Basically, Congoleum found every reason to pass blame on others for their poor quality, high priced product. If I only would have looked on the internet to see complaints before I purchased, I would have a nice ceramic floor. Now I have to put up with this *** until I can afford another investment in flooring. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr................My advice, pick a different product!!!!!!!!!

We too have had many problems with our dura-ceramice fllor and have gotten no help from Congoleum. The floor inspector that came to our house blamed the problem on us having teenagers in our home. No kidding. Do not buy this crappy stuff or any Congoleum product. They do not stand by their guarantee.
