Commerce Energy - Commerce Energy door to door scam

  • by   Mar 07

The situation is exactly like the others posted. Someone came to the door representing Commerce; asked to see the PGE bill (which we pay online); stated we had received three mailings (which we had supposedly been aware of...not!); didn't have a card; didn't have any information to hand out; was unable to direct us to an online source; gave the impression this would save us money; etc....and when we didn't say"oh yes let me show you my private bills and talk with you about something you have no info on to give me" gave up and rather rudely walkrd away! 2fa4ed1

Sounds just like the interaction I had at my door. I especially did not like the hard sell and warning that I could get this offer only that evening while he was in the neighborhood. I truly wanted to have the time to research this out before I made any decisions, but because he couldn't be bothered to give me specific information or a way to contact him to complete the sale, I decided this "opportunity" was just too off to bother doing business with.

Now they're starting with the telemarketing calls. Sigh.

So what part of Commerce Energy was a Scam? Most door to door representative's don't have business cards because they are independent contractors and if the company won't make them an official employee, what makes you think they'll gladly make business cards for them? And what would the business card do for you? Would you want it so you can easily dismiss him but pretend to call him back? Or were you genuinely interested in contacting him? When people say "do you have a card or something" that usually means they do not care about what the representative has to say so and wish to find an easy way to end the interaction. As far as not giving you online information, you probably said something like "do you guys have a website i can go to? If you do, then i will take a look at it myself and if i decide i would like to be apart of this company is offering and i will do so online"? If that was your intention then you must understand that in most cases, that either means A: You just wanted to end the interaction and did not have any interest in going online. Or B: If you did choose to go online, that representative would see no profit from doing so. Although, if you would have gone forward with the program he was offering, i can guarantee he would've gladly gave you the online source.

These guys don't get paid by the hour, if you've ever done a commission based job then you should understand completely. Especially with these door to door jobs, people feel more

The scam is they are representing themselves as part of your current gas provider, and claim to protect you against a rate increase and will save you money and none of that is true.

im sorry sir, but that is incorrect. They say they are a wholesale gas marketer and you as a consumer have a choice as to whom supplies your gas. and in the long run sir, they do protect you from pg&e's rising rates. do your research!
