If you are considering buying one of these homes, take my advise and RUN! The home are beautiful at first glance, but once you move in them the problems start popping up almost daily. Cracks in the walls and ceilings, leaks under the sinks and also roof leaking, paint on the walls is really cheap and they are WAY over priced. Good luck getting anyone to come out and fix any of the problems. All...
The home we got we were told that it was a used one....well to our surprise my husband figured out that they repossessed this home. Our electrician came out to hook up our electric and he found that the electric stove was wired into the plug for the dryer. He explained that if we had turned the dryer and stove on at the same time then it would not have gotten hot enough to trip the...
We purchased a Karsten Home (made by Clayton Homes) in Stockton earlier this year. We ordered four (4) combination telephone/TV jacks, marked them on the plans when we were finalizing the order and paid for them ($140). Now $140 is not a lot of money, we have spent more than that on dinner in a nice restaurant, but the jacks were not installed in the house. Because they were not installed, we...

My mom and I bought a ridiculously expensive home rom the Longview Texas site. The home had been on the lot for 2 years and we were led to believe it was a new home. We got that "someone else ordered it and couldn't get the finance for it" spill so we were getting a great deal. Because we presently live out of state of where we bought the home and were setting it up it took 6 months to get the...
my wife and i bought a 28x80 white pine. was delivered and set-up. it had been ordered for another customer who backed out of the deal. the plastic had been cut while on sales lot. it set there about 4 months and rain got in the walls. nobody said anything about it. they went ahead and delivered home and set it up. we made our payments on time. well when we started smelling mold. i called the...
Setting up our modular home was a complete uncoordinated mess and took, so far over 3 months, and still not done. The graders/excavators are very inexperienced and don't know what they are doing. Have still not done anything for the drainage from the rain and put our garage in a place where we cannot get the car into it because they failed to clear enough land. All they do is make promises but...
We took possession of new Giles Clayton 16 x 80 in the summer of 2011, this home was placed on a small farm for weekend use. Within hours of turning on the water we noticed water dripping from the bottom of the trailer, the water was leaking because of a failed shut off valve in the kitchen. It soaked the floor, carpeting, insulation under the floor and damaged the wall board. The next day we...
