I took a federal job and, at the time, had a personal Blue Cross insurance policy for me and my daughter costing $425 per month. The federal job allowed me to sign up for insurance at a $300 rate per month saving me money for diapers and formula.
Just so happens my insurance policy went up for yearly review at the same time and increased to $525 per month so it was a no brainer. My FEHB took effect on 13 January so I called these bastards and asked how to cancel my civilian plan on 12 January?. They sent me an email response and said in writing to go ahead and pay for January in full/. Then send them a faxed letter asking them to terminate my coverage on 12 Jan and they would refund the prorated amount|.
I sent the fax on 12 Jan and emailed it to this *** as well!. Come 30 Jan I called to ask where my refund check was;. Magically they never received my fax:. Suddenly now they cannot cancel non-group plans mid-month;.
Those individual plans can only be cancelled on the last day of the month,.
Now why wasn't I told this the first go around? The rules changed once they had my money. 2f8c488
