Steve “anti-Semite” Cyrkin once owned Starbrite Autographs. He closed down that website for more then two years explaining that he was attempting to remove all the forgeries from his inventory. He told this to a select few however posted on the website for years was that it was under construction. The business never reopened and finally folded. It is believed that the confused Cyrkin, not knowing much about autographs and unable to tell the forgeries from genuine autographs sold his inventory to Gary King. It is interesting to note that King who resides in England sits on the Ethics Board of the UACC. Did he also not know what he was purchasing?
Cyrkin purchased the highly successful Autograph Collectors Magazine but its success didn’t last long. Cyrkin published stories illustrating forged autographs stating how wonderful and genuine the signatures were. Even more embarrassing he ran contests in the magazine and in some cases the prize was a celebrity signed photo that contained a forged signature.
Cyrkin’s real downfall was calling an autograph dealer who was Jewish the most insulting word anyone could think of calling a Jew. Cyrkin became known as the hobby’s anti-Semite-worldwide. His magazine was blacklisted by hobbyists and it folded shortly thereafter.
Cykin’s next move to try and get even with the hobby. He began to support the fraudsters and forgers in the hobby. He supports authenticators who are incompetent but fit his agenda. Cyrkin’s next move was to attack many of the legitimate dealers and those who are quite capable of authenticating and trash them. He went after some who were selling 100% genuine autographs, stating they were forgeries.
Cyrkin’s blog is filled with nothing but hate and he still attacks those who have the best interest of the hobby. He has a small following of obvious imbeciles that admit they know little or nothing about autographs as witnesses in other published articles.
Cyrkin’s world is still crashing as this beaten looser in the field of autographs finally breaks down.
In a recent December email Cyrkin post the following on his blog: “Heck, I run the joint and I’m not an expert in anything,”
This individual who has a long history of commenting negativity on persons who only sell genuine autographs finally admits he is not an expert.
Cyrkin’s hateful site is presently going after two respectable auction houses both who refuse to pay for advertising on Cyrkin’s blog. One of the auction houses is the respectable Julien’s Auction’s of Beverly Hills, California. This auction house was a Cyrkin favorite while they paid for ads on his site. Julien’s pulled their ads after discovering Cyrkin’s past. Since pulling the ads Cyrkin has been attacking Julien’s on what appears to be a daily basis. The other auction house being bashed by Cyrkin’s site is also not a advertiser. Matter of fact the several dealers Cyrkin has attacked are not advertisers of Cyrkin’s site.
Legitimate autograph dealers and auction houses shy away from advertising on Crykin’s site as they are well aware that collectors steer away from anything to do with Cyrkin.
As of this writing Cyrkin is being sued and word around the hobby is others are following
Steven Cyrkin - Insurance Fraud Part 1 of 3
Most of you reading this are very aware of the name Steve Cyrkin. Up
to now he may be best known as the autograph hobby’s anti-Semite.
Google his name. See what has been written about this individual on
many web-sites. Nearly everyone in the autograph hobby has been
affected by this individual and none of it is positive. He ran an
autograph business named StarBrite where the inventory was chock full
of forgeries. After being exposed, Cyrkin himself stated in writing
that he was shutting down his website as he removed all the forgeries.
The website never came back up. Posted on the website for years was a
statement that it was closed for maintenance. His Autograph magazine
failed miserably. It ended up being an embarrassment to the hobby.
This simply indicates that whatever Cyrkin touches goes bad. The
implosion of his two autograph related companies is known worldwide
and the handful of those who chose to be associated with this
individual is said to be on the “dark side” of the hobby.
The following story will be written in three parts. There is so much
to say about the hobby’s well known anti-Semite. This horrible title
was brought upon by himself when Cyrkin was *** enough to insult,
in writing, a well known Jewish autograph dealer. Cyrkin called him
the very worst thing anyone could call a person of the Jewish faith.
This alone indicates Cyrkin being of sick mind!
Part one of this story deals with what can be called “insurance
fraud.” The following information has been taken from filed court
documents.
An insurance company named Provident Life and Accident Insurance
Company filed a lawsuit against Steven L. Cyrkin who held a policy
with this company. The judge who handled the case was Honorable Linda
H. McLaughlin.
The case was for a policy that arose out of a claim by Cyrkin on two
disability policies issued by Provident to Cyrkin. The policy insured
Cyrkin for disability from his regular occupation as a coin grader.
How many of you reading this have taken out an insurance policy in
case you are unable to do your job?
Cyrkin claims his “regular occupation was a coin grader.” “Cyrkin
submitted a statement of claim form to Provident claiming that he was
disabled under the terms of his policy.”
“Provident Insurance Company paid Cyrkin disability benefits under his
policy-----were paid subject to a full reservation of rights and
defenses, including the right to demand reimbursement if it is found
benefits were not due under the policies.”
“Provident stopped making payments under Cyrkin’s disability policy
-------and Provident filed an action for Declaratory Judgment and
Restitution.”
The case continues. “Motion argued that based on the undisputed facts
Provident was entitled to Summary Judgment declaring that Cyrkin was
not totally disabled under the terms of his policy.”
“Upon from that Declaration, Cyrkin submitted no evidence to
contradict any of the undisputed facts established by Provident.”
“Judge Linda H. McLaughlin issued the Court’s decision granting
Provident’s Motion for Summary Judgment in full.”
“In its decision, the District Court found as follows: Cyrkin failed
to offer any evidence to support his claim that he has been totally
disabled at any time ------Cyrkin was not disabled during the time
that those payments were made and he was therefore unjustly enriched
by those benefits.”
Provident paid $553,000 in disability payments to Cyrkin while it
investigated Cyrkin’s claim!
(Most bank robbers don’t walk away with this amount of money!)
During this time, Cyrkin was a coin grader and shareholder for
Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). Cyrkin’s supervisor in his
capacity as a coin grader was David Hall.
David Hall along with another owned 50% of the business and Cyrkin owned 10%.
(For those who might not know, David Hall is the co-founder and
president of Collectors Universe, parent company of PSA/DNA.)
We continue to quote from court documents: “Cyrkin claimed that due to his disability he could no longer work as a coin grader at PCGS with David Hall.” “Cyrkin also
believed that he was not disabled from working as a coin grader
outside of Mr. Hall’s presence.” “Cyrkin reported to the independent
medical examiner, Dr. Gottschalk, that he believed he could function
as a coin grader at some other location other than PCGS.”
“Cyrkin’s treating psychiatrist Dr. Robert Linden agreed that Cyrkin
was disabled from working as a coin grader with David Hall.”
“Independent Medical Examiner, Dr. Gottschalk also believed that
Cyrkin was not disabled from working as a coin grader, independent of
David Hall.” Two other psychiatrists who conducted independent
medical examinations, Dr. Sheffner and Dr. Sharta, opined that Cyrkin
was not disabled from his occupation.”
“Cyrkin provided no evidence to support his claim that he was disabled
from his occupation as a coin grader.”
“The only Declaration submitted by Cyrkin in support of his
application was his own Declaration which provided several facts
regarding his psychological condition but did not state that he was
disabled from working as a coin grader outside of Mr. Hall’s
presence.”
“The Court properly decided that, based on the undisputed facts,
Provident’s denial of Cyrkin”s claim was reasonable and Cyrkin was not
entitled to extra contractual damages.”
“The Trial Court did not err when it found that Provident was entitled
to Summary Judgment on its claim for Declaration Relief and
Restitution------”
It is interesting to note and continue to quote from Court documents.
“Cyrkin did not submit any evidence to contradict all the doctor’s
opinions that he was not totally disabled from his occupation as a
coin grader.”
“District Court Judge Linda H. McLaughlin signed an Order:
1) granting summary judgment in favor of Provident on its first cause
of action for Declaratory Relief.
2) granting summary judgment in favor of Provident on its second cause
of action for restitution.
3) granting summary judgment in favor of Provident on the second count
of Cyrkin’s counterclaim for breach of contract.
4) granting summary judgment in favor of Provident on the first count
of Cyrkin’s counterclaim for breach of the implied covenant of good
faith and fair dealing, and
5) granting summary judgment in favor of Provident on Cyrkin’s claim
for punitive damages.”
Learn the shocking truth! In part two, learn what Steven L. Cyrkin has
to say, in his own words, telling the Court what he feels is his
medical and mental condition. It may not come as a surprise to those
who know Cyrkin what the medical doctor’s findings are and what they
have to say about Steve Cyrkin.
Learn why the past and current actions of Steve Cyrkin, as an anti-Semite and hater of
legitimate autograph dealers, can somewhat make some sense now based on his
medical and mental condition.
Steven Cyrkin Medical and Mental Condition Part 2 of 3
In Part 2 of this story, we will discuss the medical and mental
condition of Steve Cyrkin, the hobby’s anti-Semite. Most information
listed in this story is taken from filed court documents.
The court case arises out of a claim on two disability policies issued
by Provident Insurance Company to Cyrkin which insured Cyrkin for
disability from his regular occupation as a “coin grader.” Cyrkin
submitted a Statement of Claim form to Provident claiming that he was
disabled.
Provident issued a Motion accompanied by a memorandum of Points and
Authorities, and a Statement of Undisputed Facts. In response, Cyrkin
submitted no evidence to contradict any of the undisputed facts
established by Provident.
The Court found that Cyrkin was not disabled during the time that
payments were made and he was therefore unjustly enriched by those
benefits.
Cyrkin’s claim was that he was totally disabled from his occupation
due to his depression. Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) was
willing at the time to hire Cyrkin as a coin grader however Cyrkin
believed he was disabled from working as a coin grader with David
Hall. Cyrkin also believed that he was NOT disabled from working as a
coin grader outside of Mr. Hall’s presence.
Cyrkin reported to the independent medical examiner, Dr. Gottschalk,
that he believed he could function as a coin grader at some other
location other than PCGS.
Cyrkin’s treating psychiatrist was Dr. Robert Linden. The independent
Medical Examiner was Dr. Gottschalk and other psychiatrists who
conducted independent medical examinations were Dr. Sheffner and Dr.
Sharma. They opined that Cyrkin was not disabled from his occupation.
The only Declaration submitted by Cyrkin in support of his opposition
was his own Declaration which provided several facts regarding his
psychological condition.
All of the following facts set forth in Cyrkin’s declaration and were
accepted by the trial court as undisputed. At different times,
Cyrkin was diagnosed with Depression, Attention Deficit Disorder,
Avoidant Personality Disorder and Panic Disorder.
Avoidant Personality Disorder in adults means emotional black mail, a
system of threats and punishment on a person in an attempt to control
their behavior. False accusations, distortion campaigns with some
campaigns are patterns of unwarranted or exaggerated criticism which
occur when a personality disorder individual tries to feel good about
themselves, by putting down someone else. Attacks are usually against
a family member, friend or partner.
Without treatment, a person with Avoidant Personality Disorder maybe
resigned to a life of near or total isolation. They may go on to
divulge a second psychiatric disorder such as substance abuse or a
mood order such as depression.
After Cyrkin’s therapy, he noted that prior to his alleged disability
he had avoided other people besides David Hall. He also noted that
his problems with his current business partner are similar to those he
experienced with David Hall. Cyrkin still suffers from anxiety and
Avoidant Personality Disorder and, as a result of his psychological
problems, he is unable to work with his supervisor and the controlling
shareholder of PCGS, David Hall.
Treating Cyrkin was Dr. Linden and he noted in a letter to Provident
information that was pointed out by Cyrkin. It found that Cyrkin had
suffered a “Major Depressive Episode”…..in the context of a long
standing residual attention-deficit disorder with hyperactivity.
Cyrkin also points out that he described anxiety symptoms which can
typically accompany depressive episodes and that these symptoms are
suggestive of a Panic Disorder.
Cyrkin relies on Dr. Sharma’s acknowledgement in his report are the
results from one of the psychological tests he conducted were
“consistent with a person who is aloof and distant and
moralistic…..and may be consistent with paranoid disorder.” Dr.
Sharma’s test results showed some psychological problems. That fact
was accepted by the Court as undisputed.
Cyrkin had the burden of demonstrating that he was totally disabled
under the terms of his policy. It was Provident that sued Steven L.
Cyrkin in this case.
Provident was undoubtedly elated that the District Court chose to
selectively weigh the statements of medical providers concerning
Cyrkin;s psychiatric condition.
Below is taken from the Declaration of Steven Cyrkin in Support of
Opposition to Defendant’s Motion for Summary Judgment. The Declaration
was submitted to the trial court. This Declaration was signed under
penalty of perjury by Steven Cyrkin.
The following are Cyrkin’s own words: “I still get seriously
depressed, although thanks to the Welbutrin I am able to pull myself
out of depression after a while. With great struggle….I no longer have
a drinking problem.” “I still suffer daily from anxiety and what I
have come to know as a avoidant personality disorder, both of which
seriously affect me. I also take Ritalin three times a day now for
ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), which seems to help a bit. More than
anything else, the Avoidant Personality Disorder affects me, keeping me from doing
even things like writing, and calling certain family members, paying
my bills and other seeming innocuous things.”
Cyrkin was prepared to testify at trial concerning his mental and
emotional condition. His own Declaration stated that he had several
personality problems, stresses, and indeed physical problems.
There were numerous statements by treating and attending physicians
that showed depression, paranoia, avoidant personality disorders, and
other psychiatric factors.
Steve Cyrkin’s association with the autograph hobby has been reduced
to a problematic web site which is full of hate. Most anything posted
on his site that points out Cyrkin’s mistakes or are critical of
Cyrkin are immediately removed. Many of his readers/posters have been
banned from his site.
If any person or organization is singled out and attacked by Cyrkin
you can bet your last dollar that they are actually one of the good
guys. As for the handful left of Cyrkin supporters/advertisers simply
Google their names. Almost all have a very dark side of selling
forgeries, mis-authenticating autographs for their personal gain and
more. One can only imagine the type of individual that wants to be
associated with a person like Cyrkin. Cyrkin's medical and mental condition
has done so much to hurt an insurance company and this hobby.

Do the federal officials who slapped the anti-Semite Steve Cyrkin with over a dozen liens know that Steve Cyrkin generates advertising revenue from his slander blog, Autograph Magazine Live or from his defibrillator company, Heartcharger http://heartcharger.com/index.html? Do they know about the pricey Elvis Presley autograph that he bought? We hear that the State of California offers a reward for people who turn in people like Steve Cyrkin. Who will be the first to collect the reward?
Bill Lockyer, State Treasurer, 916-653-2995
California Tax Board, Fraud Department 800-338-0505
Orange County Assessors, Fraud Department 714-834-2727
Will Steven Louis Cyrkin’s family members be named in future liens? Names to look for are Carol Louise Cyrkin, Shannon R. Cyrkin and Elizabeth Ann Payne. Autograph News Live is not done pulling tax returns. Who else on Steve Cyrkin’s blog have not been paying their fair share? A certain forensic accountant would know.
