Everything these people are saying has happened to me.No contract when questioned was told that the printout from their site was the only contract and it was legal, and binding.

There is no telling you that at each level you will be changed to another person who forgets what was added to your original so called contract, your manuscript gets lost several times and you have to resend again. When it is finally completed and ready to market you will then be told that you need another 11,000$ for advertising,web site,press release that your book will not sell without you purchasing all of this extra. then they decide that you need to pay 149.00$ for author learning center access. which they promptly removed from my checking account without my approval and then refused to return my money!.

the learning center I was told was free and states free on the so called contract, but not so at all'. You have no idea if you are a book or not?. I went to BAM to see if I could do a book sighning and the ans'. was no my book is print on demand".

Not any book store had my book on site|.

which I was told they would by Authorhouse?.and so it goes on a big mess and I no clue what to do except forget the book they have it and I do not,.yes I can purchase my book from them. 3011232

I have been prompted after just recently signing up (actually my girlfriend asked me if I wanted to sign up and I said with one ear available "sure"). Then I get calls two days in a row, talking to me about my story, he wanted to know what the story was called, what it was about. Sounds like a nice guy, but if it's something that my dad has ever taught me from his cop days, "don't trust anyone and listen to the tone in his voice." He seemed honest enough, however he was practically reading a sheet to me trying to get commission from something. I've been doing my homework and realizing now that companies like these may not be the best option, however I'd say (to the original poster of this blog) go get em! Because at the end of the day they have your coin and you don't have your wishes granted.

Sincerely, an author enthusiast;
Daniel Dupuis

nothing has changed. check out your book stores about Print on Demand books because that is what you will have.Books A Million or Barnes and Noble, will not have your book in stock or in store. You can not do Book signing even if you purchase the books yourself. Check those places out.

Hi Bonnie. I have recently signed with AH and now find I have no control over pricing (which is way too high) and the royalty rate sucks ( a bit over 10%) I was told I'd have 3 free corrections, now am told I only have one. I have not submitted them yet, as I was told if I want nay control over pricing, I would have to purchase a "Flex Pricing Option" for $250.00. Immediately, I was inundated with calls from a "marketing consultant" wanting me to hurry and approve their marketing scheme. Of course once I do this, I am fully obligated to go along with their plan; can no longer cancel the agreement. That is where it stands right now. I think I should bail out. Do you think I will have a problem doing that?

Hello there Bonnie, I read your article and can't believe all the things Authorhouse did to you. I am currently talking to someone from Authorhouse to get my book published however after reading this I am double guessing myself. If you dont mind, can we further talk about the pros and cons of publishing with authorhouse because I have another self-publishing company that am interested in. So before I make my final decision I would like to know more. Thank you and I look forward to chatting with you.
