It appears a lot may have changed over the years. I attended Barbizon in Honolulu, HI back in 1982.

I am now 54 years old. I will always be grateful to Barbizon for teaching, molding, and making me the man I am today.

The lessons they taught me will stay with me for the rest of my life, especially, being kind, diplomatic, and pleasant in all regards. Barbizon nurtured my body, mind, and soul; and with giving Barbizon the credit, I have endeared myself, and have been an inspiration and good influence to so many people--I have been told.

We were stopped at the mall about 8 months prior to the phone call about modeling, so I did not even remember when I received the call what it was about. Like many of the comments, there was never any mention about Barbizon being a school, and not an agency, and having fees, or that the meeting was an open presentation with several dozens of people.

The impression I had over the phone was that a person was meeting with me and my daughter to see if she had any potential. I left the meeting half-way through it, wishing I could get the 1 hour of my day back and do something more productive..

If you love your daughter, Don't waste your $$$$$$$ or your time. They promised my daughter the world and they did nothing for her. They just want your $$$$$$$$.

alicemay you dont know ANYTHING i go there and everything you read was 100% wrong anyways why would you want to read the bad comments what about the good ones :?

Guest

Alicemay should be more concern about English and grammar than modeling school.

First let me mention that I have never attended this school or a meeting with an agent. However, I have been on several different sites reading about Barbizon complaints and it does seem as if a single Barbizon representative is replying to most all of the negative complaints online, as the grammar and linguistic style seems eerily similar in all of them.

They may not be a "scam" as they do offer services for money, but it seems there are a lot of disgruntled people out there. If it quacks like a duck...

Barbizon is what you make it. We called them to get our daughter involved for the reason of self esteem, socializing with girls like herself, and yes to feel what a great opportunity feels like when people like the ones at Barbizon make you feel...

Like somebody. We went through the classes every weekend along with going to IMTA where our daughter won a third place for head shot pictures. Surely she did not win the most trophies or callbacks but what she won was some self esteem as we found out recently she has a high level of Autism. I don't think it is fake when 2 agents signed her and was offered a contract to put a recording together for Capital records.

Everything we do in life comes at a price whether in money, time, or devotion. Thanks to the folks at Barbizon in Southfield, Michigan for making our experience an exciting and very fulfilling.

i was called by judy mariano and told the same story, oh i want to me with your daughter and interview her at 1230, we went and got hair and makeup done and met judy(one of pthe rudest persons on tis earth) we did not have an interview and barbizon school was never mentioned in any of the calls or messages she left, i would never pay her one thin dime to do anything for my daughter, barbizon will pay her before she does anything with them, judy mariano from tampa florida is a rude b___h!!!

Alice May,

You need to stop listening to the haters and follow your own dreams. Barbizon has been around for over 70 years and they have helped many young ladies with their self-confidence and how to feel better about themselves.

Many graduates do go on to be very successful in the modeling & acting business. Barbizon is a great foundation for anything you do in life. If you want to get into the business Barbizon is a great stepping stone for those that want to pursue modeling on a local level or even a national level. Remember you’re in Texas, like in Ohio, we are in a commercial market.

Models do this only part-time for the mall fashion shows, department store ads. and the local commercials. Some that want to take it to the next level for modeling or acting will go to markets like New York or LA. No reputable agency will guarantee you that you will work or be a star and most important - what you put into it is what you will get out of it.

Stay positive and go on your gut feeling.

You have to start somewhere. Good Luck…

Janet

I went to Barbizon and loved it. How can you say it is a scam when you never went, you read things on line and did'nt go?

Of course you are going to pay for training, my parents pay for all kinds of training for me and my brothers!

I now have more confidence, feel great and look great. I'm going to go to college to be a nurse and I know I can ace all of the interviews to get into nursing school.

Maybe you should grow up and go visit one before you decide they are all bad!
