I was solicited via mail for a card with a FIXED RATE. In the initial application I transferred balances from higher interest rate cards. When it was time for the FIRST payment I unfortunately got the due date mixed up with another card. Upon realizing the payment would be 2 days late, I immediately made the payment and called customer service. I explained my mistake and asked if they would waive the $39.00 late fee...NO NO NO were all the responses--it was a VALID late fee. I told them I recognized that and again explained to a "supervisor" the situation, who again refused to make any exception. I told them to immediately cancel my account because any company that was so inflexible did not care about me as not only a customer but a NEW CUSTOMER and did not deserve my business. Additionally, every customer service person was very rude as if I had caused them anguish rather than the other way around.

Now 4 months have past and I noticed that my new online statement shows my FIXED RATE has increased by 2%! Upon calling about this I was told I was in DEFAULT of the terms and the rate was increased. I again explained the situation from earlier to no success of anyone reducing the rate back to original rate. I spoke to an "ACCOUNT MANAGER(Crystal is her name) she would not reverse the rate and would not make an exception for ONE late payment that was only 2 days late to begin with. I asked to speak to someone who could help me and told me she represented the executive offices of the bank and they would only tell me the same. I told her that Barclays(Juniper) obviously does not care anything about retaining my business and I will do whatever I can to get the word out to the public. I hope enough people get together to file a CLASS ACTION SUIT against this bank. This is the very situation the government formed an investigative committee over....that credit card companies were ripping the consumer off with these types of tactics....it was on CSPAN if anyone is interested. It is really maddening.

EVERYONE WITH A JUNIPER OR BARCLAYS ACCOUNTS PLEASE CANCEL THEM ASAP AND PAY THEM OFF. THEY DO NOT DESERVE YOUR HARD EARNED DOLLARS.
