I brought a book called Treasure Maps of the Superstitions to be published. I checked with authors and the BBB before signing. They had no complaints against them. I made a contract with them in Nov. 2005 to have it done by Feb 2006. It said they would provide an ISBN number. I gave them all the materials. They started work on it. In Feb, the 600 books weren't finished. They said come back later to proof a cover. I came back when they said. The cover wasn't done. It didn't have the color to it and looked sloppy. I came back later and they finally had a cover done. I also proofed a galley of the book. It was very hard for me to get them to give me an answer about why the book still wasn't done. They were treating my book like a joke. In June I finally got the completed 600 books. I took them home and realized that there was no ISBN number. It costs the pubisher $300 to provide me with one which is nothing because I gave him $6000. He didn't give me the number to save himself a measly $300. This number is crucial for sales because this is how the major bookstores (Barnes and Noble ie.) will inventory the book and reorder. I had to settle for ma and pa stores. I thought I would try to sell the book anyway and I didn't tell the publisher because he was slow in delivering product and he wouldn't care anyway. I imagined waiting another six months for the finished product. The next two years I hardly made any sales. I had to go to Bookman's and get only $2 a copy about 5 books at a time. I didn't sue him at the time because I don't have money for the lawyer and he knew it. I think that's why he took advantage of me. I also thought I could sell them on the internet. I still have a $6000 bill on my credit card. I believed that the sales would pay all of it back and then some. I would like a check for $6000. I am also going to make hell for them by posting a complaint with the BBB (still waiting for a response from the company and other complaint websites.
