Beautyrest Mattress - Unacceptable Warranty Resolution
About 18 months ago I purchased a Simmons Beautyrest Evolution Visco mattress and base, a top of the line model. After 5 months the Visco pillowtop started to fail and after 11 months I couldn't stand it anymore and finally put in a warranty claim. No longer could the Visco foam contour to our bodies. Instead after laying down for 15-20 minutes the pillowtop was hard & flat. The company (Sleepmaker, here in Australia) gladly replaced the Visco foam with the promise that it would never happen again. I had asked for a different pillowtop because I lost confidence in this material but was told "it's against the law to change the specifications on a warranty repair". Would that be State or Federal Law Sleepmaker? Now, 5 months later, that replaced foam failed again. Once again I requested that they replace the 80mm Visco pillowtop with conventional foam. Once again the company replaced the pillowtop with Visco but this time with a thinner layer of Visco and a thin layer of 'another' foam. For some reason this was not seen to 'break the law' regarding changing specifications from exactly what was originally purchased. The mattress that was returned to me is now, strangely, a very firm mattress and nothing like the gentle mattress that I purchased and want.
