Online reservation may be convienent but not necesssary cheaper. If you find a price online, you should call the hotel directly and tell them that you found a price of $xx.xx and see if the hotel will match it. In most cases, when speaking with the manager, they will match or beat it.

Why? Travelocity charges the hotel $30 per reservation. If a hotel room is $60 on Travelocity, the hotel will probably get $30.

You can easily negotiate a $40-45 room directly with the hotel. Note: If you did reserve it online, the hotel cannot provide you with the actual charge of the room. How do I know this?

I work in the travel industry for over 10 years and the NDA (non-disclosure agreement) has expired so I can tell you all this. I have personally saved $$$,$$$ in travel costs.
