Leafguard complaint by Tnlandsailor
For any homeowner considering maintenance free gutters, scratch Leaf Guard right off your list. This is a company who is very proud of their product and who charge a premium for it. Their product is the surface tension type guttering that collects water but keeps leaves out. Although the product has some merit, Leaf Guard as a company is one of the worst I have ever dealt with.

Their installers are utterly clueless and the workmanship is some of the worst I have ever seen. No response on trouble calls, it's like they cut you loose as soon as they cash the check. Customer service is terrible and the installation on my house is systematically destroying my outside screen area. I will have to have the gutters taken down to fix what they have done before my screen room is ruined. Oh, by the way, if you so much as touch the gutters, you void the warranty. Good deal huh? Leave the customer to fend for himself, then void the warranty because the customer did the work himself because you wouldn't respond to any requests.

This is a company to avoid at all costs.

1st- Leafguard is a franchised company so you never know what kind of service you will get in what area.

2nd-the gutter is too small and since it is a one piece system, you cant just pull the top off and clean it. They actually claim "...if it ever clogs, we will clean it"

3rd- Since I have worked for both LeafGuard and Gutter Guard, I know that it is one big scam to get your money. The mark up is unimaginable!

4th-I have noticed in my years working in the gutter business, that consumers do not research what they are buying. I can sell the same thing for a quarter the price and get RICH. Do your homework people!! money is hard to come by, dont throw it away!

p.s. If you think about it, how many times can you pay someone to clean your gutters with the thousands of dollars you spend on these "super-gutters"?

Very unsatisfied with these gutters. DONOT install them higher than the first level of your house. On the second floor we have been having a problem for the last 3 years....birds build nests in the gutters! They get clogged and we have had to devise a tool to somehow gouge the leaves, grasses, etc out! Anyone have any ideas what to do? After spending all this money, i think we will have to remove them :( :( :(

They did not deal with us, and I know coperate would not allow this persons situation to exist. I think we may not be getting all the facts, I work for the dealer in California and we pride ourselves on customer service, and 30% of our business comes from referrals (meaning previous customers). Perhaps the individual who wrote this complaint can contact me and I would be glad to assist him.

LeafGuard is one of those Good Housekeeping approved companies that you should have been able to trust. My guess is that independent contractors make up their network of installers and the corporate office may be very interested to hear of your predicament.

Try calling: 1-800-532-3482 to see where that gets you. Specifically, tell them that you want them to contact the representative that installed your system to come back and correct the problems. Keep asking to speak to superiors until you speak to someone who will agree to assist you. Pick a time when you'll be able to be on hold for a while.

If it doesn't help, write a certified letter to their Customer Service department. It doesn't cost that much to have a signed receipt returned to you and because it scares the Bejesus out of them when they receive mail like that, it's worth every penny.

Corporate's address is:

LeafGuard, Inc

1200 Amboy Avenue

Perth-Amboy NJ 08861

Make some noise in the right ears and see what happens.
