Publix complaint
or who you are doing the work for, I'll try to make a couple of suggestions.

If you are hauling for Publix, refuse to allow them to unload. Do the unloading yourself or make sure you have someone else with you to unload into the warehouse. Then you can bill them for it. If the manager of the warehouse refuses to let you unload it, then have him sign on the bill of lading saying that they refused and will not charge you for their decision. BUT you have to let whoever calls to set up the load first know before doing this. They need to agree to it. A better alternative is, when they call to set up the load and you tell them about your policy, if they want their people to do it fax over a letter that they HAVE to sign before you will pick up the load and have them fax the signed and dated copy back to you. That will cover you along with the signature on the BOL making clear that your company will not be billed.

IF you are hauling for someone who wants their product dropped of at the warehouse, you can do the unloading OR let them and then bill your customer for the charges. But let your customer know that this will be happening up front. If your customer balks at this, tell them to call Publix and demand that you not be charged. If they are a substantial contract with Publix, they will agree to it.

As for the rudeness, all you can do is complain to management and corporate and let your customer know. If it continues you can always choose to not deliver to that warehouse. If you're not in a position to do that, then endure it.
