General Motors complaint
We have been informed of engine problems (pistons) in the Buick Century Custom 2000. We found out when we complained of early morning sounds coming from engine. Master mechanic admitted that a "memo" has been sent stating that pistons installed were too small, and if customer complains they should replace pistons. He stated that there would be no damage done if nothing was done, not to worry, it could go forever.

My husband disputed this saying that engine would be damaged by the sloppiness of pistons hitting engine walls. We asked if the would warranty engine to 100,000 miles, they said no, standard 36,000 warranty would apply. So consumers who are not aware of this problem would be stuck with repair costs after the 36,000 is up!!! People need to know of this problem, there should be a recall. We decided to trade in our car, once you do engine work your car is never the same.
