Cottman Transmission complaint by Debbie
Cottman Transmission on Warner ave Huntington Beach. The shop owner( George) had my daughters car for THREE MONTHS for the transmission he couldn't fix. He said he would pay for a rental because she had school. After numerous phone calls between George and my daughter him assuring her he was going to pay for the rental and the transmission would be fixed soon....well to make a long story short HE BAILED!!Shop closed with the car still in it!! The owner of the building contacted my daughter she had to remove the car or pay 60.00 a day. She went to pick up the car NO TRANSMISSION!. We have been trying to deal with Cottman Transmission Headquarters in PA and are getting nowhere...They sent her money back to get it done someplace else but how can she do this without a tranmission. They have been no help.Don't they have a responsability towards their customers? So far she is out 2500 for the shop and on top of this she had to pay for the rental which was 2850.00 Does anyone have any suggestions? Our next step is to hire a lawyer. More money she doesn't have. She just got out of the military and was just trying to go to school and start a career

I can relate to what you and your daughter are going through and i can only give you some helpful advise on what you can do at this point. I'm sure that some of the parts needed to re-install your transmission are missing and never to be recovered, so you need to find a salvage yard that has this type of vehicle with a good transmission still intact and talk with them about getting everything you are missing for your vehicle. There are probably nuts, bolts, sensors and exhuast pipes missing to name a few. if you were lucky and they were placed in the trunk of the vehicle while the transmission was being rebuilt, you are in better shape. If the center owner went under and left everything, I'm sure he/she had everything incorporated and very hard to get to them on a personal level and corporate has covered themselves as you already know. It's not fair the way you and your daughter have been treated, but very common I hate to say. This is more than likely your cheapest way out at this point!

Sorry
