My mother has an rewards account at BOOKS A MILLION and I used her card to save some money when buying some books for my son. As a promotion they offer 4 magazines for 3 months for free...I said," No thanks" and the woman at the checkout said "Are you sure? I could not get ahold of anyone to cancel my membership! I too signed up for a 5K through ACTIVE.COM -A**H**LES! Could not sign up for race if i did not get membership. WTF. NEVER AGAIN!! SYNAPSE have been sued before and I had to comment after I saw others have been scamed as well throught ACTIVE.COM. I will be reporting this to the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION today!!!! This company hacked my bank account Sept/Oct and got $87 for 3 magazines I did not subscribe to. Their phone number is (877) 813-0320 and their website is www.magcustserv.com My bank is helping me get the money back. So far they refunded $72 and I'm still trying to get the other $15. This company, Synapse, is in the business of re-selling magazine subscriptions at an exorbitant markup. They sneak themselves into your wallet in the sleaziest of ways! I was suck(er)ed into buying a membership with a Running Agency, Active.com: when I signed up for a local 5K race in Pensacola, FL, I was required to buy a trial membership with Active.com in order to register for the race online.... I received a call from New Sub, a magazine subscription service, offering a cut rate on one of my magazine subscriptions.
