My car is financed through Santander. I have been unemployed since December 2008.

I have managed to make all my car payments until now. I called Santander and let them know that I might be running into some problems making payments because my unemployment was running out. I was told there was nothing they could do.I find it very hard to believe that a company would not try to help a customer try to avert a problem. But not this company.

Santander would rather let your account get behind than to help you out! Stay away from this company!

Monetary Loss: $19.

Location: Las Vegas, Nevada

Our motorhome was financed through GE and they sold it to Santander. I researched Santander..

they are a huge Spanish bank. They could care less about Americans. The Spanish economy is in shambles (worse than ours) and they are going to screw us!!

We can not however now find anyone to refinance our motorhome because it is 10 years old now. Thanks to GE for selling us out too!!

..Oh Yes! Though they kept claiming to have sent the reduction fee in the mail, the title "Santander" was never on it!

So....what the *** am I looking for???? You think they'd let you know, from the start that "you'll be receiving this time sensitive mail and the title isn't Santander, it's _ _ _" Really, thanks and no thanks for the help.

I need legal assistance that doesnt have anything to do with Santander. A complete outsider looking in

My story is very similar to SusanCabe's but the twist is that both myself and close family relative have been calling to complain about the payment plan they had offered and never sent. We've been after them for about 5 to 6 months (began inquiring as I was unemployed)And every single time the same answer:"We've e-mailed it to you...it should get to you within the coarse of 14 business days".

I didn't know that meant the 7th set of 14 business days! Geese!! I let them know (the 8th time of calling and speaking to someone different) that If i'm calling you, it's for an actual reason....you want your money and I need my car for transportation! Why would you make this so difficult for me?

Now, my back's against the wall, I have NO money to pay my bills, barely enough for my groceries and am busing my behind STILL TRYING TO FIND WORK! It's things like this that cause extreme situations to occur and it's very very disheartening!

The easiest option for money would be to become a ***, (sounds funny but it real and truly isn't) but there's no hmo or 401k or dignity in that! I wonder if Santander has any job openings or if they'll stay in business for much linger-for that matter

I'm considering financing through Santander and thought I would look at reviews. I am hearing a lot a bout how people are upset about losing there vehicles but really Santander is not a charity itรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs a business.

On the loan pack I have it clearly states the terms and I didn't see anywhere that if times get ruff you can get a payment plan or not have to pay. Take some responsibility people. I'm having my own financial difficulties and I can understand the frustration associated with that. These businesses are high priced and failure to pay does result in severe consequences but you all new that when you signed up.

As adults we have to take responsibility for the choices we make!

I'm not trying to attack anyone but I havenรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt read a post yet that had anything to do with scamming or unusually terrible behavior by this company. All that has been talked about is normal business practice for these types of companies.

I recently reported on a different post in a comment about my dilemma?. So to spare from repeating myself I will just tell you an update;.

I am pleased to report that the refinancing for my car went through at my own bank, in the end my brother had to put his car up as collateral and cosigned but we got ourselves out of the loan at Santander;. I encourage anyone who has a loan with Santander to see if you can refinance at your own bank that you trust?. I have also warned my bank that Santander is shady and facing lawsuits and to be sure they mark the payment as in full when they pay them off and to make sure absolutely sure they are off my car title". I now have a refinance through my bank of $194 payments each month for 4 yrs, compared to the 2 1/2 years I had left on the Santander loan at $298?.42 each month:.

Putting $104 back into my pocket each month that I need for living expenses, and the interest rates were lower because I now qualify for lower interest rates:. Please see if you can refinance at your own bank, it is worth the trouble.

:(

i had my car financed with citi financial for about 2-3 years and i had made payment arrangements with them because i was behind on a payment and they said that i would be able to defer my payment. When i went to call them about the deferment i was shocked to hear that they were no longer citi financial but santander.

I have had nothing but problems with them. I filed for bankruptcy early last year and was reaffirmed my loan with them and they denied it and they just recently repoed by car and sent me a letter and expect me to come up with $2,900 in not even a week. I recieved the letter monday and they want the money dec.1.

I also recieved a letter saying that they will auction it off and what ever is still outstanding they will take me to court over. I am just lost and don't know what to do.

ES,I do have a question when do that decide to repo your car? Or do they just let you continue to think that someone will help you when times are rough.

lie to you about helping you and let you fall farther and farther behing due to situations that prevent you to have a full payment or even a partical payment. I am 130$ behind for June and $283.00 for july.

no one will talk to me just lie. what are they planning and what should i do?

i have read all of the comments posted on this site. I hate the company and i agree with the fact that all of the representatives there are ignorant and crooks.

I have been trying to get rid of the company for months. I have been trying to get someone anyone at that company to help. I recently had a baby and my unemployment has been reduced by $400 a month and times are tough right now.

They said there is a payment plan however said that they would get back to me in a couple days its been 4 months. really?

i had a total loss due to theft of my car in april. my insurance company paid the loan off with over payment in june.

it is near sept and im still waiting on my refund!! i call every four days or so for a status and everytime i have called i have gotten a different story from a rep that could barely speak english.

i would love to be involved in a class action suit with these rip offs. foriegn company apparently that believes they do not have laws and guidelines to follow.

Guest

I am have been trying for weeks now to figure out how my over payment can go towards the principle. Only my first payment reflects anything taken out of principle.I have been promised to get called back and hung up on.

When i do get a response they tell me i have to be 3 months ahead.

well..i started my loan in janunary with 226 a month payments and have paid 2690 (no late fees just overpayment). thats a years worth of payments in 8 months.

Think before signing a 72month contract..thats 6 yearsof anything can go during your life...companies can only do so much. If your unempl and cannot afford the car payments, call and try to extend ur contract or get another bank to refinance...if none works..GIVE THE CAR BACK!

Its not the end of the world, stop stressing with not being able to pay...you would still owe money, but ur not stressinglin hiding ur car or avoiding the repo. You need to understand that companies can only do so much....do you think they would want to wait 3 months to get one payment? When they can repo ur car and sell it and make more money...face the fact..this is America! We're open to Capitalists...thats how banks keep open.

I just say all of this because I went through all of this. I lost my job, no unempl benefits...I kept my car for a couple of months with no payments made...got it repoed.....stress free now.

Dont be selfish and look at your situation...take a breather and think of the business side too. :eek

I lost my husband, home and car in April due to F5 tornado through Alabama. Needless, I loss my paperwork.

The car was totaled and Nationwide paid this company for the car. I understand there is a balanced owed. I have repeatedly ask for a payoff and history of this loan mailed to me, so I can pay the balance. For three months no paperwork mailed and I get bombarded with phone calls.

I will not pay off until I have some paper work. Can't find the company on the computer.

Any help with a website? Sorrrrrrrrrry Company!!!

I initially had my loan with HSBC and had flawless credit with them. Since my loan has been sold to Santander it has been a nightmare!!

Late fees, harassing phone calls, rude customer service....you name it. This place sucks!!!

Guest

This company is awful!! With less than perfect credit, CitiFinancial financed my SUV with a crazy 22% interest rate but told me that afert making 8 ontime payments that they would refinance for no higher than 9% which is the only reason I bought the car.

I made my 8th payment and was told to get together some paperwork and call back in the next few days for the refinance. I called back in 2 days and was informed that my loan had been transfered to Santander. I called them to find out that they did NOT refinance. Citi and Santander SCREWED me on purpose!

UNETHICAL! So now I have been dealing with Santander for a year and a half. We have tried to refinance through other banks but have been unable too. Santander will do NOTHING.

They are rude and nasty on the phone. If my payment is one day late they will call 20 times a day and have even called me as early as 4am! We have actually contemplated just turning the car over to them! I am at a loss.

It's a nightmare and I have no way out. In 18 months I have paid over $9000 and I have only payed off less than $2000 of my principle. Has anyone read their BBB rating? It's a big fat F!

I guess I'm so mad because I didn't CHOOSE this bank....My accout was given to them! If my payment wasn't so freaking high then maybe I would have money to sue these ***

Guest

I hate Santander too. Especially since they have now decided that to even make your payment online, it's an extra $5.00 fee.

That's some *** if I ever heard it. You already have me paying up the wahzoo, then because I would rather insure it gets paid in time you would rather me risk it getting lost in the mail so you can charge me late fees? How can you charge someone for paying you? I don't get that.

How is that legal? That's just one thing. We won't even mention the complete disaster area they call a website. It's like chewing on barbed wire just trying to get to the dang payment screen.

But, unfortunately, no one cares about the unrich. Only if you have money nowadays or are willing to sale your soul for it, does it seem you get ahead.
