As the owner of a small autoglass business, I started the business in 2000. Most insurance companies use Safelite Autoglass to handle their autoglass claims.

Over the years I have noticed a great decrease in my income that i used to get on my 1099s from Safelite Autoglass. As Safelite

Autoglass grew by buying other autoglass companies, my business has decrease by many jobs because I think Safelite Autoglass takes most of the jobs and the well paying jobs for themselves. I have also talked to some of my customers who has told me that Safelite Autoglass was trying to get them to use Safelite Autoglass. I went from having a store front, three employees and three vehicles down to just myself and to this day i notice the decrease it seems like Safelite (Belron us inc) call us only for same day jobs because they can't get to the jobs themselves.

Safelite has also lowered our prices for the jobs. I feel its a monopoly, the manufacture own glass, Sell it under another name, Install under another name and control where and who the insurance jobs are dispatched to.

Location: San Leandro, California

Welcome to capitalism.

All true. Autoglass has become just another worthless trade following big monopolies by manufacturers of glass being involved in the replacement end of the business.

Letting a company like safelite administer the network which handles calls for like 60 insurance companies equivalates to letting the "fox guard the hen house" The glass they use is cheap, full of distortion (wavy and optically untrue) and funny thing about it is it almost always breaks with a quickness after encountering a rock/chip facilitating another call to safelite for more profiteering.

They have no pride in their work, most installers there have under 5 years of experience, and I'm sorry but kids shouldn't be working on 60k dollar cars like Mercedes-Benz, but when there's no profit from doing the higher end cars any longer the customer loses as safelite ends up stuck working on it as any real business making sound decisions avoid it like herpes. Thanks for the lies safelite, thanks for ruining my trade of over 30 years and taking us back 30 years on quality because you all don't care to make a better product, rather fill my TV and radio stations with ads telling us how great you are (I KNOW DIFFERENT) I would be scared to allow them near a car I or anyone I gave a *** about.

I am a small auto glass business owner in Arizona, and for the last few months we have been experiencing Safelite's unscrupulous way of doing business. They would place our jobs under "pending approval" and call our customers directly and tell them their glass will be installed by Safelite.

That is flat out stealing our jobs! Jobs that we worked hard for.

Not only that we lost any potential income, we've lost on marketing dollars as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see a class action lawsuit in the future.

Anonymous. ...

you joking... they just do it for cheapest and work their workers like dogs in the heat.

Safelite does not set the pricing. NAGS ( National Auto Glass Specification ) sets the fair and reasonable pricing for all glass.

Tempered and laminated. NAGS also sets labor times and clean up times.

I feel your pain. We all know what's going on with Safelite in the auto glass business.

We are blessed, we have our own advertising, social media and Internet advertising. When customers call Safelite and are told they have to pay hundreds, they search elsewhere. We are the second choice!

Thanks Safelite, for being over priced....we appreciate all the business you are sending our way! We recommend you try to up your Internet advertising, it as helped us tremendously!

u must be in a remote area, as to the only guy second place in my area owns 8 glass companies and pays google 50k a month for pay per click to compete with safelite. good for him, bad for the rest of us

As owner of Ace Auto Glass, we do 3 way calls to Safelite Solutions, according to each insurance company on all glass claims. We explain upfront to our customers what Safelite is going to tell them.

We tell our customers about our lifetime guarantee and so forth. This eliminates Safelite's game of trashing our company.

Lol more like almost double minimum. I work for them and by far they value work and their employees more than any other glass company would.

The people in the call center make a very decent pay compared to other *** call centers and shops. Probably more than any of the shop's technicians even make.

And we don't steal your business we are REQUIRED by law to say the customer can choose anyone to do the work and they aren't obligated. And if you're not in the network all we say is that we can't back up your work so we tell the insured to check the benefits the shop offers, that's as courtesy so the customer doesn't get screwed over.

There is an IRC channel called #sgcnetwork on i2p.

(i2p is a darknet. It is meant to be anonymous. On i2p we can communicate more freely without having our ip addresses logged.)

Anyone interested please join #sgcnetwork on the i2p irc network and share ideas!

I especially encourage any and all small shop owners who are sick of safelite bending them over to join #sgcnetwork on i2p.

Let's join together and coordinate ideas. Let's turn this into a movement!

to "whocares"'

that is one of the most ridiculous claims ever made about safelite. most small shops will not hire techs from safelite because they are careless, messy, and cause alot of damage to vehicles.

an occasional bad install is one thing, but safelite installers usually destroy all clips and hardware during removal and then use urethane to glue them all back together. I wouldn't even go as far as call them "techs". most small shops pay their techs the most, because they pay for quality. sgc installers usually have to redo their work, which drives down profits and installer pay.

not to mention the quality of sgc glass is apalling. most techs would rather use "xyg" glass than "sgc" glass.

As a current employee I can attest to the ridiculousness vented here. We are on a very rigid comp plan. It's nearly impossible to do our job at Safelite. Employees are not treated well, pay sucks unless you're sitting on the 6th floor at corporate in Columbus Ohio.

As an employee we are screwed Over by Safelite, written up for sneezing wrong, expected to be the "obvious choice" in the glass market, not to mention being harassed over petty junk.

If you're a minority you get by with murder....otherwise you're rode like a bad pony. Not to mention rude customers on the phone who are verbally abusive over prices & scheduling. Our techs are way over worked under appreciated.

Not a great co to work for. As far as insurance, each customer is asked and given the right to choose any glass shop they wish. Safelite may be the "preferred" provider but that in no way dictates the customers right/ability to choose.

:x

they are stealing from you from me from the customer from insurance companys .they think its 1950 ussr. they are trying to put every independent shop out ,what they are doing is outright criminal and our lawmakers are letting them get away with it
