I've had 3 PC shows before and never had a consultant ask me to pay for the food she was preparing. I went to a show last night with intentions of booking and she told me I had to pay for the food.

I told I wasn't interested then. As far as I'm concerned that's part of your businesses tax write-off. I personally think she is ripping people off!

I found out later she had the host buy way to much food. I don't know if things have changed for Pampered Chef and this is what they are teaching there consultants, but if so I will never host another show again.

Consultants do not receive tax write-offs on food purchased by our hosts. Did she ask for your receipts?

Asking our hosts to supply a few ingredients for the recipes is VERY common for most consultants, new or seasoned.

I'm sorry to hear that you were upset by purchasing ingredients for your friends to sample a delicious recipe. I hope they at least enjoyed the delicious food.

When you have any get together at your house do you not supply your guests with refreshments anyway? Your going to spend the money anyway, so why not supply the ingredients for the consultant to prepare the receipes? Yes, they get a tax deduction but they won't make any money buying the food for every show.

I had one party and the consultant said she would be bring a ready made dessert to show the uses of some products. I thought...wow, what a great consultant.

As she was tallying the orders and I chose my free product, she added x amount of dollars to my total. When I had asked why, it was for all the ingredients she had bought! Never explained I would need to reimburse her.

Which would have been all well and fine had I known. I have been in direct sales for over 30 years and when I had taken a dessert or any extras, it was because I wanted to, not to be reimbursed for a tax write off.

I was a bit surprised when I had to supply ingredients for my party but was told that I would get this back at end of party with item in the catalogue this never happend as the consulant said I hadnt got enough sales and to go get more orders frm my workmates and freinds , what a cheek however I look at this way the freinds I invited had a nice evening and at least it was good food and company but I will never host another oarty as it was disappointing ,

I have had numerous parties with pampered chef and others over the years and I have always had to buy my own food for my party.

I have hosted a show with 3 different consultants and always had to buy the food. I don't know why you think the consultant should pay for the food!!

I host at least one show a year and have used many different consultants over the years and always had to buy my own food. It's my party and I am getting free and half price products. It's so worth it.

Years ago I had a party and the consultant was a friend and I had to pay for the food . So I don't think it's a new policy.

Whenever you host a Pampered Chef Party, you buy the ingredients for the food that is made. Always has been.

Hi. I am an Independent Director with The Pampered Chef.

Our business design includes giving our hosts a SMALL shopping list for the recipe prepared at a cooking party. It always has. But we each can run our business as we chose. I do not ask my hosts to supply the ingredients.

As you stated, I get a tax write off. Plus I am a bit controlling and prefer to know the ingredients are there etc. Please don't be upset with the consultant.

She might be new or not have the resources to get the ingredients herself.
