I was driving back from mobile Alabama & between Jackson & Grenada miss.all my dash lights came on & temp. started to climb,I pulled over to check & the alternator belt came off.belt was ok.the alt.pulley was wobbly,it actually bearings wore out inside alt.I put the belt back on & tightened slightly to see if it would stay on,it did,all the dash lights were off & was cooling so I made it home.

Next day went to o-Riley's & got a rebuilt alternator, keep it mind I had a bearing issue only,it was still charging.Put the rebuilt alt. on,it lasted 1 week.noticed lights would dim down with more load, took a voltage check & it was at the lowest voltage rating, stated a range of 13.5 to 15.5 volts,,with all power stuff, windows, alarm, lights, etc, full power,it would have to stay at 14.5 or above to handle load. When the 1st one installed it ran at 14.6,with load 14.4,working great 1week later it was down to 13.5 volts,my license plate bulbs are rated 13.5v 10 watts...i took it back & got another one.it was only putting out less than 13volts ?& the case was hot as a firecracker when only running for 3 mins totally defective..called them & their getting one sent from other store & can't believe I got 2 bad alternators in a row..My car was doing fine except of the bearing issue from the factory alternator..has been a nightmare dealing with this junk & cheap constructed alternators that can't keep up with full power options on demand needed to operate all power features. This will be number 3 & it's only been 3 weeks since the 1st one was purchased..I would not recommend their alternators for all power cars & trucks..i will get the other alternator tomorrow & we'll see how it does..can't operate replacing alternators every other week...no shorts or wiring issues just cheaply rebuilt alternators now I'm stuck with dealing with all of this...have a good day...

I can say I have three all power vehicles that all have O'Reilly alternators on them and I have no issues with any of mine. Take into account that alternators that are rebuilt are just that, rebuilt, and there are going to be times that one of them can fail.

The people at the store that you have been going to should have submitted a product alert for the units that you bought so that the company could look in to it. I will say though that O'Reilly's will stand behind their products without a flinch...

I also purchased an alternator from this junk store and I had to return it in 5 weeks . They wanted to exchange but I demanded my money and purchased a replacement from the local NAPA with great results.

I also bought brake pads an they were squeaking worst then the old ones.

They sell junk stay away

I had a Carquest alternator put on my Blazer and made a loud whining noise. The guy that put it on said, "oh, they all sound like that, drive it 500 miles and let it break in".

Uh huh, RIGHT!!! Told him to take it off and give me a refund which he did.

I went to the dealership and got an OEM alternator. Carquest is flat out JUNK!!!
