I just came to this site and surprisingly found so many complaints about Metlife, especially about Metdental for military. Well, my story may be also interesting to someone.

I use MetDental military plan through Tricare. On July 10th of this year, I submitted my dental bridge claim to MetDental via their email address with three attached documents to prove the procedure already finished and the payment was made in full. Several days later, I resent the same email with attachments another two more times to make sure they get it, because I have had experiences before to hear MetDental didnโ€™t receive mails or emails. Each of my email was responded by their automatic responding system to confirm they received it.

About one month later, I called them to follow up the payment that they were supposed to process within 30 days. But they said they receive all the emails, but with only one of the three attachments, they other two attachments were โ€œNOTโ€ received. This happened to all three emails that I sent to MetDental. Therefore, due to โ€œinsufficientโ€ supplying of supportive document, they could NOT process my claim. Of course, there was no payment for me. When I asked them why there is no notice to me to request the โ€œmissingโ€ documents, they couldnโ€™t give any reasonable comments. I had no choice but resent the same email with the same three attachments. Well, this time, their system works fine โ€“ they got it with complete attachment set. Amazing, right?!

I called back next day; they said the payment would be processed within 24-48 hours. Well, I thought this is the end of the game and patiently waited for the money. However, since I didnโ€™t get anything I called MetDental again about one month later, and claimed no check received. They said the check was printed on Aug 9th, but for some reason, it was not mailed until the 12th. They suggested me to keep waiting till the 30th day from Aug 12th. If I donโ€™t receive it by that time, I can call them back to request reissuing another check.

Well, I, certainly, didnโ€™t receive the check on Sept 12th. So I called them on the 13th to request reissuing of the payment. They agreed to do it, but would need another 15 working days to process. I may have to wait for another 30 days. If I still do not receive it, it may take another month for them to reissuing the 3rd check. Then, the game will be going on and onโ€ฆโ€ฆ

Has anyone ever received an email with part of the attachments only? Of course not, this is simply a game that MetDental plays with their customers. By doing this, this companyโ€™s financial report may look better since they keep more money on their bank account. If you are in the stock trading business, you may want to take a closer look at their fundamentals. If you are looking for a dental insurance plan, stay away from MetDental / Metlife.

The companyโ€™s management has unwisely jeopardized the companyโ€™s reputation and making it a sample of evil to the public.

Again, stay away from MetDental/Metlife if you have choices.

Monetary Loss: $1316.

I had the same problem with MetLife Military Dental for a crown replacement. They kept asking for additional xrays and paperwork to avoid paying the claim.

It still has yet to be resolved. I recommend never using MetLife for anything.
