Water softener seemed to kick on while in the shower those lowering water pressure. After a couple years seems that the water tasted salty. We have a issue with sulfer water and have have been injecting chlorine in to the water to get rid of the smell the extra equipment and chemicals not worth it. The equipment didn't last as well. So I check on renting equipment to take care of the problem... Read more

I've had problems with my 4040OD system where the system produces constant salty water. The local Kinetico authorized servicemen are De Anza Water in my area (south bay Cali). They tried to fix the unit 7 times and failed every time meanwhile they wanted to charge me to keep coming back even though they couldn't fix the problem. They actually created a bunch along the way in an attempt to fix... Read more

I had a Kinetico Water Softner for probably 20 years with some minor problems during that time. I changed the water filter on schedule and all in all I was very satisfied with the operation of the unit and service from the company. The unit finally succumbed to old age and a new unit was set in place, this one with an additional tank, a carbon tank. After a couple of weeks of operation, the three... Read more

Do not buy!!! Initial system cost very expensive. They then lock you in because you can only buy filters and get service thru the local dealer. Local dealer service technician was rude and argumentative on two occasions, refuse to give them any more of my money. Local dealer chose to ignore both complaints. Called Kinetico, since local dealer is only dealer, and they were useless in helping... Read more

In February 2003 we spent $3,100 for a complete Kinetico water softening and carbon filtering system. It worked OK until about February 2007 when I was advised it was time to rebed the carbon in our system. That was $360. Then two years later they came out and said I needed to rebed the carbon again so I did it again another $403. Here we are two years later and they want another $400. Kinetico ... Read more

BEWARE - bought it end of June 2008 at about $3500 with 10 yr warranty on parts & 5 yr warranty on labour - suppose to be a no hassle problem free system that back flushes itself ( with 2nd tank so no interference with using water at same time, and programs itself according to how much water you're using) .........problem 2 yrs later and with $135 bill everything is working fine - back in a... There was a flood in our home due to a drain from a Kinetico Quality Water system drain hose (purifying our water). We had damages to our floor in March of 2013 of over $17,000. All the flooring had to be replaced. The water service picked up the tank in March and returned it on May 21st. There was wasn't any explanation of what needed to be done. We then received an invoice for $483. My husband... Read more

Our K60 system quit using salt. We called Kinetico's yellow pages service number. A local dealer then called & said service was a waste and we needed a new $3,000- system. We called Kinetico and complained. They subcontract service from Home Depot; 3 days later a service tech took apart the control valve, replaced a couple gears, and charged us $150-. After he left, the water meter was... Read more

Water softener quit using salt, called for service, tech comes out and wont touch unless I sign a waver because he feels the system could blow, and or a valve will leak and cause water damage. The tech never touching or thoroughly looking at anything immediately went into a sales mode i.e. we need a new $4500 system, ours is ready to explode, or if he puts it in bypass mode it will start leaking.... Replacement filters are only available through dealers. I just want to replace a simple filter but MUST use local dealer. The cost of the service call for a 2 minute filter change twice a year made me remove the system and buy a competitors product that sells filters at Home Depot. Selling filters which are a simple item to replace must be more profitable than watching users abandon the brand.... Read more
