Ok, 88 years old not a lot of money but pretty hard of hearing. So I trusted my audiologist. From the second month I started having problems with the aids. Well 2 years later and constantly bringing the aids back for repairs from the beginning, the warranted aids are gone and now I am told, NO more free fixes. My Son is mad as *** with Siemens not fixing the same issues from the start and... Read more

I purchased my third set of Widex aids in Phoenix and the dealer sold their business soon after. I have been wearing aids for almost 50 years and it is amazing how slow the technology changes. The dealers will woo you with all of the fancy graphs, channels and new ear pieces and none of them are any better than getting the right fitting. If your Widex dealer leaves or in some cases even if they... Read more

On a recent visit to the Costco hearing aid center located in Fountain Valley,Ca, I stopped at their hearing aid center and asked about the products and the prices. They are offering REXTON Receiver in the Canal hearing aids for $995.00 each which is an outstanding price for such a quality product. Independent Hearing Aid offices pay about $850 for the same product. The REXTON product is labeled... Read more

I STARTED WRITING ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO ON THIS BLOG. I THINK I WROTE ABOUT 150 ARTICLES, SOME AS LONG AS ONE THOUSAND WORDS. MOST OF THE ARTICLES WERE ABOUT THE PRODUCTS,POLICIES,AND PRACTICES, OF THE HEARING AID INDUSTRY, AT ALL LEVELS, INCLUDING MANUFACTURING,AND RETAIL. I ALSO WROTE ABOUT THE CHICANERY,DECEPTION,FRAUD, AND LACK OF ETHICS IN THE BUSINESS. I EXPOSED FALSE ADVERTSING,ETC,ETC,ETC. I... Read more

I have worn over 8 pair of hearing aids over the past 20 years, representing 7 different companies. First, I have found that the hearing tests that audiologists do have not changed much in 20 years and are not that relevant to hearing in the real world. Second, the engineers working at hearing aid companies do not understand something very fundamental: 90% of the time (at least), hearing... Read more

I have had my Audible hearing aids for five years now. Had to have them repaired 4 times at the cost of 300.00 dollars each time. I take them to have them cleaned and adjusted when needed. The feed back is terrible and I have complained about not being able to hear well with them and even worst cannot hear the words correctly. I just had my hearing aid repaired again and was told that the hearing... Read more

My mother in law has broken the battery door on her hearing aid is being charged 560.00 to repair it. This is minus a "170.00 building discount" because she lives in a assisted living complex. So if she did not live in this building I guess the total would have been over $700.00!!! I feel like this company is taking advantage of senior citizens!! Does anyone know what the usual and customary... Read more

First he is forgetiing or conveniently leaving out the fact that hearing aids last any where from 5 to 10 years and almost all providers offer FREE lifetime service, cleaning, adjustment, re-programming, etc. With 4 free check ups per year on an 8 year hearing aid life, that's 32 office visits for which your Dr. would charge you $80 to $100 per visit just to walk in the door. That would equal... Read more

The biggest complaint in the wearing and use of hearing aids, over the past 25 years, or longer, has been that the User feels like their ear is plugged up, or occluded, resulting in the Wearer of hearing aids feeling like they are under water, or that their ears are otherwise plugged up. This is especially true, when the User has normal hearing in the lower frequencies and only suffers from a... Read more
