We have the same problem with our 720k battery dieing all the time. But it never happened to our 520. It is a 93' we bought used in 96'. We still use it for back- up. Great machine. Hardly anything has ever gone wrong with it. I have abused it pretty bad also. But we mow on flat land.Except for the battery dieing on the 720, we think Grasshoppers are the best mowers we have ever had. My husband... Read more

I'm on my 3rd set of belts on my mower. It has 114 hours and its A real pain to replace them. Dealer can't find the problem. Its had normal use. Maybe even light use. I have to take it to the dealer to get the belts replaced. Other people I have talked to don't have this problem. The mower was bought in late 2007. I expected more from A mower that cost as much as this one did. The dealer... Read more

You have to be an *** to blow up a Grasshopper mower. They are the best mower I have ever run and I have put them through *** without one complaint. When you don't know what you are doing don't blame the mower, it is operator error! Some of you can't even spell mower right let alone run one right. I have an 1820 that is more than 25 years old and it is still going strong. Try taking... Read more

I had my mower running for 1.1 hour and the first thing that I noticed was those *** black plastic plugs came out of the mower deck, all but 1. I made the plugs on my last grasshopper, they stayed in until I traded. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS SIMPLE PROBLEM IS BAFFALING THE DESIGN PEOPLE. I feel like I needed to capture parts off the old one. I'm not impressed with to much, this is the last one I will... Read more

I have a 725K 61" mover that I'm having a problem with. After mowing for a long period of time, after shutting off the mower, often times I am unable to restart it until it cools down. Sometimes by rocking the mower, it will start. Yesterday I mowed for approx. 4 hrs. The last time that I turned it off, it would not start again. I tried several times during the evening to start it with no... Read more

I'll tell you what. I had a similar bad experience with this company. I have a Grasshopper 120. I called their corporate office to locate a dealer in my area. They referred me to Atmore Appliance. Mower was running rough so I gave it to Atmore to fix. I get the mower back and it's still running rough, battery didn't charge, steering drive was week, but it cut. This is after the... Read more

I went to a Grasshopper dealer to buy a lawnmower. The dealer tells me the new rear discharge mower makes the grass 'look like carpet'. So I ordered one. I have used a bush-hog that cuts better. So I ordered a midmoiunt deck (side discharge). That solved the problem. I now have $12,000 in the mower, not so smart on my part. The dealer still has the rear discharge for sale after... Read more

This is not a complaint. I am the owner of a Grasshopper 225. I've been having problems with the mower loosing its charge after mowing for an extended period of time. I took it to a repair shop after charging the battery and the owner of the shop assured me that everything checked out ok. I then mowed for approx. 2 acres and stopped. The battery was dead again. Its a new battery. Has... Read more

I bought a Grasshopper 725K mower new in 2000. In the first 2 hours of use, the air dam underneath the deck snagged and was bent. I wrote the factory and got a prompt call about it. The guy listened very well, but didn't do anything about it, except, of course, to tell me that they now weld the air dam at that spot. No other problems for a couple of years. Then the repairs started, most... Read more

I am a Grasshopper Dealer and have never heard of this company NOT taking care of the dealer or end user. Out of over 200 sold personally, not one unit has ever broken in half or has been down due to lack of service on my behalf or the Grasshopper Company. In fact, I have known them to repair at cost an engine that the owner admittedly destroyed himself. If there is someone looking at purchasing... Read more
