Fifth Third Bank Runs A Scam On Customers Regarding Fees

They will access fees against your account wrongly, refuse to credit those fees back, and then continue charging you fees at a rate of $8.00 a day and refuse to allow you to close your account until you pay all those fees.

They then report this against your credit until you pay all fees.

Their customer service center refuses TO PROVIDE YOU WITH THEIR CORPORATE ADDRESS OR TELEPHONE NUMBERS!!!

Here is their corporate address:

Fifth Third Bank

Corporate Offices

George A. Schaefer, Jr. - President

38 Fountain Square Plaza

LET EVERYONE KNOW THEY SHOULD NOT DEAL WITH THIS BANK EVER!!!

Also be advised that you can file a complaint against any bank at this government web site: www.federalreserveconsumerhelp.gov

It's the worst bank ever..:: I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The people including bank managers that work there are completely clueless.

The mortgage process and closing was so so so painful. Recently had an insurance claim with them. No one at the bank knows how to deal with it. Keep giving wrong information.

Promised me that my package would go express. Ended mailing it out 2 days late and regular mail. Did not inform me about it. Ridiculous customer service.

I am going to get rid of my home loan. I can't deal with retards any more

I am so thankful for this website. Everything stated above about this bank is true.

I experienced this abuse after having been a loyal customer for several years.

The reps are rude, incompetent and go out of their way to hide what should be public information about management. Do not use this bank!!!

Vote with your money!!!

Just stay away from all banks (like Fifth Third Bank). use local credit unions only, and you will not have these B.S. problems.

My husband recently psssed away and after months of painless insurance disbursements, tranfers of retirement funds, pension plans, and etc...in tge 10's of thousands of dollars, we come to the fifth third bank debacle.

My husband had been diagnosed with severe heart disease so we had made certain all accounts were accounted for as being joint or in my name, and all insurance and other funds had me as beneficiary. Fifth third bank was no exception. We went in and sat down to make me joint on his bank accounts, however they did not bring up a small savings account. Anyway after my husband died I went in to close out all accounts there, and once again they never mentioned this account. I gave both our names....and at my bank that pulls up all accounts! Anyway, After 6 mos passed I got a statement on this savings acct which they only show in his name. Well, of course, they say I cant have that money...unless I jump through hoops and pay cash. Disgustingly pathetic treatment of someones widow....particularly when it was THEIR fault the account was never tagged as joint. They have also been dinging the account ten dollars per month....five dollars twice for something that is the same thing. You judge.....they are charging five dollars for a dormant account charge and five for a service fee for having no open account!! Huh???

I nor my family will ever do business with them again! Do they really think my husband wanted to donate this money to them?? They now require me to file an affadavit for a small estate! I assure them this small svgs was not our estate....our estate has been handled competently by every other company we have conducted business with!!!!

WHY DOES FIFTH THIRD BANK STILL EXIST???

Never received a bill from this bank; turned out four days late. They called and hung up on me!

I call back because I heard an open line. Answered Fifth Third; guy tells me bill late, never received. Of course, they had accessed late fees and interest. I had a $11,000 line of credit; they reduced it down to $500 due to four days--so they say.

Finally, got fees waived and closed the account this morning. This bill was for a huge sum of $125.00, which I paid immediately when I realized there was a problem. Rude customer service at all levels, but what can you expect from a bank that used to be the customer service counter in my local Kroger. I sure hope they go Under, and quickly; they are scam artists.

Runaway fast if they approach you to do business with them. Bad News!

I have a very high credit rating. Report them if you feel you have been wronged.

Fifth Third failed to endorse my mortgage refinance in a timely manner, and when I went to take advantage of the FHA Streamline program, I learned that my PMI would go up $90 a month. Fifth Third endorsed my loan just one day after the PMIs, by law, went up.

HUD wouldn't give me a one-day break and refused to allow the Streamline finance because now "I wasn't saving enough money." I even got my Congressman, Peter Visclosky, D-Indiana, to intercede, but to no avail. HUD wouldn't budge off the one day thing. And, or course, little did Visclosky know, he voted for the law that raised the PMIs. Fifth Third has been no help.

Couldn't even get a new 30-year mortage off them without them wanted scads of cash up front.

By their icompentence and lazyness, Fifth Third has cost me tens of thousands of dollars. "The curious bank?" The could care less!!!

My husband and I don't even use this bank but are unfortunate to have to deal with them when buying a vehicle from a private owner that has their lien with Fifth Third. I had my bank issue the payoff via overnight, paid a fee to do so and Fifth Third Bank tells the owner of the vehicle that it is going to take 10 business days to process the payoff. This is absolutely crazy!! For example, I called my bank and found out that they process payoffs in 12-24 hours then have the lien release available in my documents on their site and mailed to us. Just for comparison, that approx 9 days if not more to include weekends than my bank!

There is no way with them to actually expedite the process and I would have to pay a fee to actually even expedite the mailing of the lien release to the owners.

The worst part of it all is the manager said she had been there 22 years and this had always been the standard. How is it that they can be so far behind the times? Please do your research and do not take products from this bank even if your dealership only uses them...go somewhere else!!

Guest

Trying to get a copy of my lien release on an auto loan. Transfered 3 times then told they normally don't do that.

I asked can they not just print off a copy and fax it to me? No they don't do that. Apparently they don't do anything for the customer.

Never deal with this excuse of a bank again. Horrible customer service every time I have called them.

I paid to expedite money transfers through their website where they charged $2.99 to process next business day. I set these up over the weekend with the expectation that these funds would be available Tuesday (NEXT BUSINESS DAY).

I received 3 confirmation emails from 53 stating the funds would be available on 11/27/12. I called the Customer Service # and spoke to both a representative and Supervisor who stated the funds wouldnt be available until the 28th even though they charged me to expedite and provided confirmation in writing to me. The supervisor refused to provide me with management information to escalate the claim and refused to transfer me to someone else stating that no one else could help me. Also went into my local branch to file a complaint and the asst.

branch manager also was quick to defend thier bank and failed to provide a logical reason why the funds did not become available on the day I paid for them to be there and on the day they provided in confirmation. HORRIBLE Customer Service!!

Dumb, Dumber, and Dumbest! THIS bank is ridiculous and I can't believe they can thrive.

If they bought every bank in the tristate....I would find another bank out of the area to bank with. For real!

My husband got transferred for work to another country. We asked if we could take a car we had on loan with them to the country, they denied the request.

We paid the bill for one year while the car sat idle. We called the hardship dept to see what they can do for us and they said sell the car close to $18,000 and we'll make a settlement. We went to them with an offer of $15,000. They said they won't accept it and now want as close to $19,000.

Then the price went to $21,000 and they won't budge. They asked for the mileage and I asked if I can send a picture of the mileage since I'm in another country. They said no it HAS TO BE from a dealership only. I had friends in that country go through trouble to take it a dealership for me.

I send them the letter from the dealership, they call me and say now can I take a picture of the mileage??! Are you kidding me? They never budge on the settlement offer and lower it, even though they lost me that initial buyer of $15,000 and now the car won't even sell for $13,000. They don't care and make up a crazy excuse that the reason the car went from $18,000 to $19,000 to $21,000 is my fault, that I gave different estimates of the mileage (even though I got the mileage confirmed for them from a dealership AND the car has been sitting idle for a year so you tell me how if the car is idle, miles don't move, how does the car appreciate from $18 to $21,000?) Bull!

They have the rudest people working for them and they make your life a living *** when all I was trying to do is see what my options are to settle on a loan I owe them because I had to move away. Snakes!

Last June, we saw a charge against our acct. After hunting it down, I found out we had been signed up for 'Identity protection' by 5/3.

I cancelled it. In August, same charge, called again, and it was cancelled with an email saying it was cancelled and a cancellation number. Both were done via phone.

Today, guess what?

Same charge, so I went to the branch at the grocery store(Sunday hours)...cuz I was angry about having to cancel this now three times. (And being a sunday, that dept was closed) While I felt sorry for the branch manager having to deal with me, I'm upset that even she couldn't do anything to cancel this once and for all.

We have been a 5/3 customer for over 20 years, and this is one of many issues I have with them.
