Coachmen RV - Design flaw
Purchased a brand new 2011 Coachman Northridge model 290RKD in November 2012. First trip spring 2013 there were several problems but the worst was with the slide-out.
Upon our return home we cleaned out the refrigerator, installed clips in the freezer and refrigerator doors, then attempted to put the slide-out in. The slide-out interior frame hit the freezer and refrigerator doors and tore the handles off because there wasn't enough room for the slide-out to pass when the clips were in the doors. RV dealer says they will "jerry-rig" something to make it work or we could install the clips after putting the slide-out in by reaching through a side window to get to the refrigerator. Really?
Seriously? Coachman customer service rep agrees there is a design flaw but they have nothing to offer and we will just have to live with the problem. I am now making payments on a non-functioning camper, parts replacement has taken 6 weeks, and I guess the next step will be a lawyer's office.
Dealer refuses to consider an even swap for a new camper. Has anyone else encountered this problem with their Northridge?
Monetary Loss: $30000.
