Core classes and workshops

I attended CIJT for several years and had a wonderful time. I feel the training was first class. Those complaining about pricing haven't looked at the costs of equipment, tools, staff that it takes to put together a jewelry program, I would imagine. To have all this equipment available to use and learn with was awesome. The shorter workshops were also lots of fun and I learned some amazing new skills. (Workshops were often taught by outside guest teachers and we occasionally had one that was not as good as others). As in any program, check to see which type of program you are getting before you sign up, there are many options and it can get confusing.

Well the cost was high and the tools that us students purchased from the school were used for the weekend workshops many times without our permission. Many times I came back from the weekend to my bench to have to go hunt MY tools down. The tools that were supplied were sub par at best.

California Institute of Jewelry Training

Lies and very deceitful. Overpriced and not honest. Instructors cannot give clear answers and owner does not disclose teachers credentials. Invoices are not filled out correctly and have to be re-done. They melt down silver coins to practice with in a dirty classroom. Most students are from out of state or on disability and do not go on to becoming an apprentice. The instructors are previous teachers and have no real world jewelry experience. Only what Dee tells them. Specialty classes are taught from jewelers that she meets at trade shows. There is no campus housing. It is a house that you rent from Dee. They do not weigh their metals correctly and safety is overlooked. The school is not an accredited school. There are real schools. This is not one of them.
