This is the letter I had to write to anytime fitness management. Hi my name is jessica bailey.

I joined your gym agreeing to pay for one year of membership. A young teenage girl signed me up and did not inform me that your gym would continue to take money from me forever untill I wrote a cancellation letter. I was unaware that my money was being deducted from my alta one account for an extra year and a half. Because your gym has received approxametly 1000.00 dollars free from me I shouldn't be charged a late fee or the last payment I was forced to give today.

The man with the tattoos on his face was rude and agressive towards me and my mom.

He called the police because I didn't agree to pay the money. Thanks for reading.

Don't take it personally. Men with tattoos on their faces are aggressive to everyone, even their own mothers.

Get real consumers- if there are thousands of complaints, there just might be a problem. People just do not go online to waste energy confirming a bad experience unless they have had one.

I have met many people who felt RIPPED OFF by Anytime Fitness and their contract scam and marriage with ABC Financial who manages the scam.

I FIRMLY SUGGEST you take in consideration the many negative feedback that exists. I would never sign a contract with them after what I have learned.

I read my agreement and send a letter by mail canceling my membership with 30 days notice. Then 2 months later more money came off my credit card.

I called and called and called - I left at least 10 messages and no one got back to me. I sent a number of emails which were never responded too. I then went in and filled out the paperwork to cancel my membership, paid for the next month because they apparently never got any of my emails or my original letter (which I brought copies of). Now I am receiving letters from the billing company saying my account is in debt because my credit card is being declined (as I canceled that card).

I have just contacted Anytime so hopefully they will do the right thing for once. Good thing I got them to sign a contracted I had drafted by a Lawyer stating they were releasing me from my membership (which i really should never have had to do). I have been to a number of gyms and have never had this kind of problem cancelling a membership.

Oh and the reason I canceled is that the machines are garbage, they are either out of date or were broken...how can 3 treadmills be out of order for a month?!

They trainers were usually not very "in shape" and would sit in the office eating fast food and never willing to assist if you had a problem.

This was the Pickering Ontario location, and even though they are all operated individually I would tell everyone not to join any of them. Stick to your city’s health club if you have one!

LOL just fat people complaining because their *** lazy! Too lazy to even read it sounds like.

It costs like $30-$40 a month. Big deal.

That is a small price to pay to work your fat *** back in to shape. They should refund your money so you can spend it on cigarettes and fast food.

you guys are jerks...12 mo should be 12 months...companies rope people into continuing to pay rather than stick to terms...leave her alone

All gyms have open ended contracts unless state laws have limits. Read your contract like an adult. PLUS, who the *** doesn't look at their bank statement for 18 months?!!

so glad i decided to check out complaints,,,was so close to buying into this ....chattanooga, tn

Thank you WOW (Mr. Anytime Fitness) for the arrogant chastising.

These 24/7 clubs do not make it convenient to perform any financial transactions. (except withdrawing your money automatically) Read all of the complaints posted just in the pissedconsumer forums and you will see AF really bites!

Franchisees are getting screwed by corporate and they are just passing on to the members. Stop the damage control here and get back to your club or office at Anytime Fitness corporate.

REALLY?! How could u not notice money coming out of your bank account for another YEAR AND A HALF!!!

This is on you. Most gyms have several hundred members and it is not the employees job to babysit each and every one. There is a month-to-month clause on most agreements that you can either sign or initial stating whether or not you want to roll over and go month-to-month once you FULFILL your agreement. By signing that you understand that it is your responsibility to let the employees know at ATF or any other gym when you wish to cancel after fulfiling your agreement.

Wheen you sign or initial ANY legal agreement/contact that means you understand EVERY clause in the paperwork. Im sorry your mother didnt know this to tell you.

ARE YOU FOR REAL??? "I like Anytime Fitness prob.

because I understand the membership agreement." REALLY? Or because you own one or work for Anytime Fitness corporate? It is obvious corporate is trolling the complaint sites and providing damage control. Please, franchisees and corporate THUGS, save your bogus rhetoric for your website, marketing pieces and FDD.

No one here appreciates or believes your embellishments. Thank you, Pissed Patrol

I read your complaint. Did you read your membership agreement?

Did you read the paragraph where it says that you have to cancel your membership on your own...that no one is going to babysit you. You need to blame yourself for not taking the time READ the membership agreement. They prob. got rude with you when you came in and gave that *** excuse of not reading the membership agreement.

I like Anytime Fitness prob. because I understand the membership agreement.

It really took you a year and a half to notice money was coming out of your account? And this somehow is their problem?

Chuck Runyon CEO, are you listening? Convenient only when staffed, key card software working and ownership and management actually care about members.

24 Hour Clubs have issues with BILLING, consistency, training, experience, staffing, cleanliness, policies, resigning, etc. IT'S ALL ABOUT MAKING $$$. The owners of 24 hour club franchises got sucked into it and are learning the hard way about how challenging the fitness industry can be. The franchisees got screwed and now they are "paying it forward" to club members.

Corporates are making BANK while franchisees are wiping out. Recession proof? RIGHT! Profitable?

RIGHT! Easy? RIGHT! Hear that?

It's the circling sound around the drain. Won't be long now for many franchisees!

Go to Bluemaumau and look up "Anytime Fitness or Snap Fitness" and read what is happening to the 24 hour clubs in regards to staffing, tanning and CPR/AED requirements. I guarantee it will put a smile on your face!

It seems like it was more your oversight than theirs, you should have cancelled. How are they to know you're not injured or on vacation?

Are they supposed to magically know when you have not come in a while; with so many customers how could they possibly keep track? However, they should definitely not have been rude to you. My Anytime Fitness here in Va beach has nothing but very nice mannered people operating it. I wouldn't have joined otherwise.

I personally feel this lapse in judgement was your fault, but to try and put you through the ringer seems really tacky. sorry about the $$$, I know it hurts.

Keep better track of your contracts and finances young lady or maybe you should stay home with mom and dad forever if you can't handle your business.

And just think, the owner of this Anytime Fitness franchise below "graduated" from Anytime University and may have been trained directly by Chuck Runyon and his gang. Jacko's post below represents Snap Fitness as an upgrade but the only difference is the people training new franchisees and these are Peter Taunton CEO, Bill Rodriguez SALES MANAGER, Gary Findley COO, Ali McElroy COUNSEL or even Daedra Kroells!

Several Anytime and Snap Fitness franchisees have performed this "charge extra as often as possible" strategy.

IT'S ALL ABOUT MAKING $$$. Customer service is thrown out the window! Consistency, training, experience, staffing, cleanliness, policies, resigning, etc.

The owners of 24 hour club franchises got sucked into it and are learning the hard way about how challenging the fitness industry can be. As soon as they realize they cannot break even and will be subsidizing the business and see no end in sight, the real fun begins for the members! Corporates are making BANK while franchisees are wiping out. Recession proof?

RIGHT! Profitable? RIGHT! Easy?

RIGHT! Hear that? It's the circling sound around the drain.

Won't be long now for many franchisees!

How could you not know money was coming out of your account for a year and a half???

Jessica - I'm sorry to hear about your horrible experience with Anytime. I don"t think they intentionally go out to scam you but they obviously don't have the right people working for them.

And they don't care about their business either. I work at a Snap Fitness and we make sure that the member understands everything in their contract before they leave the gym and we are available to answer any questions.

good luck I hope they will make it right with you. :sigh
