Americas Home Place - Poor quality cost us money

My wife & I had a "Signature Collection" Hanover home built in North Florida 2006. Since that time, among several "punch list" problems such as poor quality drywall and electrical mis-wiring, the shingles have slid off the roof 5 times; a roof leak rotted the rear wall and caused mold; and substandard construction allowed a water leak in a side wall that resulted in termite damage that went... My husband and I have been in the process of building since November. It has been nothing but a mess. This has been very unorganized since day 1. Our house is still in the process of being built, and we will not meet our construction deadline. We have called the contractor, the guy over the office and the president over the state of Alabama, and have gotten no where. Our siding looks... Read more

We built in 2001. The process was very stressful, we didn't know how stressful building your first home would be. We researched the company a little found out the CEO was christian. We found out that he maybe christian his subcontractors weren't. The subs were very undisciplined. They did not care about the customer all they wanted was the job half done and the money, they moved on to the next... Read more

You will find more unhappy people than happy. They hire the cheapest subs that they can find and then stretch their pay out for weeks. Subs usually quit because they can not survive. You wind up with shoddy work. They only build on your property for a reason. There is no formal closing and they ask you not to go to job site while subs or there. Good reason..........Subs are complaining of not... Read more

Most of the porch rafters were cut too short and were spliced. some of the roof trust were rotted and broke while it was being hoister in place. No weep holes were provided in brick. House was wired with #14awg wire and fused with 20 amp circuit brakers. Gutters improperly pitched rain water runs over gutters instead of draining at down spouts. General Manager from the Jackson MS office promised... Read more

We went and talked with Americas Home Place and right away..SECOND VISIT...they asked for $500.00 down. Thinking we were for sure going to have our home built by them...I seen no harm in giving them $500.00. The sales person said it would be used as part of the down payment. But when the time come for them to inspect our property and they told us we would have to have at least $10,000 worth of... Read more

I have read a few of the hate letters of unhappy home owners. I have been in contract with AHP for a few months, still waiting on Fairfax county to approve my permits. what a beaurocracy. i have had a great time so far with this company and visited a couple of their other work sites. all of which are in great condition and very good quality. I am sure that some contractors may be shady, but... Read more

Company is a jumble of independent contractors with little or no supervision of customer desires. Had to replace footing three times, mislocated home, poor workmanship, poor concrete pouring, and total lack of coordination between contractors. Even though I made many site visits and pointed out errors while home was under construction the end result was very poorly done. Tile is short on two... Read more

I've been reading reviews of this company and a lot of people are making claims, either in favor or against this company. If people have really bad looking homes as a result of working with AHP, why not post your own video on Youtube? The company has flooded Youtube with videos of customer reviews and I'd like to see some "non paid" customer reviews. I can see how a large company would be able to... Read more

Sorry excuse for a builder!! In respond to Tina, never had a abitration done but would like to get a lawsuit going. House was built so badly and sheetrock is so thin and was not done right that I can see the joints and lines and house is so shaky and looks cheap like a mobile home. It is so embarrasing. HAD PROBLEMS SINCE DAY 1 WHEN WE MOVED IN AND STILL HAVE PROBLEMS NOW. CHEAP MATERIALS AND... Read more
