Have belonged to AARP for 15 years but no more. They no longer do any lobbying that we can see that are in favor of Seniors. They constantly ask for funds for this or that but nothing comes of it. Now they seem to be siding with the government any way they can. The insurance companies they "advertise" are less than desireable from the research I have done and apparently there are others who... AARP has been completely unresponsive to my questions about why I am suddenly receiving spam not related to AARP to two email addresses that only AARP know about. Yes, I know this may be difficult to understand at first so let me try to explain simply and clearly. I will skip over and modify some unimportant details to make it easy to understand. The bottom line is this... AARP may have let the... Read more

Signed up for Consumer Cellular service for my husband and AARP Membership on 12/20/13. Paid for everything. Got the phone several weeks later but nothing from AARP, saw $ had been cashed from my bank so called AARP to see about the membership. Rep wasn't able to find any info at all, tried all forms of data with no result. Said nothing was done or ordered and to give it more time to "show up on... Read more

"Genea N." would not even connect me to a supervisor when she her hands were tied and she could not help me! Rude and unhelpful - bad combination for a business built on helping people. If a customer service rep is unequipped to assist due to language barriers or plain old incompetence, then a supervisor should be the next logical step. This leaves you with the option of calling back... Read more

On November 22, 2013 I sent a check with my monthly premium for a whole year 2014. Since one month later my check was not cashed, I decided to call AARP MedicareRx, managed by the United Health insurance. The first thing I had to identify myself, by DOB and the insurance ID. When I was connected to the customer service representative, he started asking again for the same information, I provided... Read more

UHC has a pretty nice racket going collecting one extra month's premium from every new member who specifies (during initial enrollment) payment by deduction from Social Security check. Note these facts: First, Social Security checks for January arrive in late February. This in spite of the fact that the check paid in January includes the COLA amount. Benefits earned by being alive during December... Read more

I do not consider AARP as an effective organization anymore. It is prominent only in promotion of insurance companies, some services and others. AARP activities are not described in media: newspapers,TV,radio,Internet. 'Occupy Wall Street', unions, civil rights organizations have real power, they organize rallies, demonstrations, strikes, everything that bring attention to their issues. Nobody... Read more

Three times I have asked AARP three time to change my name during the annual renewal request. My middle initial has been wrong . I sent them a simple letter stating I will renew my membership when you change my middle initial. The correct name is xxxxx x xxxx. Obviously, they really don't listen . After 7 minutes of waiting for an operator I gave up. Makes me wonder if they actualy listen... Read more

When I first signed up with AARP some 20 years ago it was a great site with great information without bias. Well, that has changed in many ways and I no longer want anything to do with this Club, magazine or service what you will. It has become hard left in my opinion and has no clue as to what the public want at least in my opinion as well as all conservatives I know. It has been outrageous in... Read more
